Okay, here we go, even if you end up in another thread after you vote.

Should TAM stay in Vegas a year or two more, or should it be moved elsewhere?

Should there be more than one TAM a year, if Randi could make it to more than one? Can they get the staff to put it all together? Should they hire more staff and get it together?

I'd say stay in Vegas although Orlando wouldn't be too bad.

More than 1 p/year would be great.

I don't care where it is as long as we can get as many people there as possible. A central location with cheap prices seems like the most likely formula to make that happen. Obviously Vegas is attractive because it draws celebrities, which draws more people.

I doubt this could happen, and I doubt I could afford it. Cost is the biggest factor for me here, as I'm sure it would be for the JREF. If it came down to it, I'd rather get everyone together in one place at one time than have a few people attend two smaller events.

I was thinking more than 1 but in the country.

A cruise would be nice if its not too expensive.

The only thing about having more than one, is will you get to meet everyone you want to meet? Will forumites be torn between locations? Maybe an American TAM, a European TAM, and a cruise TAM would be just right.

Personally, I'd like to do a TAM UK. I haven't ever visited the UK (though it's next on my travel itinerary) and would love to combine a UK vacation with TAM. As a history buff - I MUST SEE CASTLES. Or at least some neolithic tombs.

Eos,
There was talk of a possible TAM Cruise in September, and a possible TAM UK.
A cruise could be scary. So many skeptics in one place. We might implode. (Picturing what a skepchicks imposion would look like....)

My impression is that a European TAM would be smaller. Any input from those actually from Europe? What do you think your numbers would be like?

Oboy, don't get the guys going :D

We'll have to wait for the Eurpeans to get up in the light of day for them to give us their thoughts. It's good to see the JREF is doing their own survey on this very topic.

I love the idea of a cruise, I've never been on one, but it would probably be a small group that goes? What are the possibilities/implications? Get our own boat? How many people does a cruise ship hold? I can't see it happening for a few more years yet.

You could always combine an optional cruise with a Florida TAM event; possibly as an extension. This would likely mean a shorter, but more affordable cruise.

A UK TAM would be a delight!

This idea I like.

My idea isn't in the poll, but seems supported here. A US TAM, I'm not really caring where it is, and a european TAM, which, while maybe keeping some of you folks there from coming to the states who have come before, would facilitate more europeans to attend a TAM that never could otherwise, so more attendees overall. Tack a cruise on either place. (Ooooo, the Danube in summer!!!!!)

Mattfn :moose:

While i would love to have both TAM US, TAM UK, and TAM CRUISE... I can't afford all three.

So i don't know what i want to vote... Just one? but UK is closer.. so.

ehm. damn, can't decide..

Oh well, planet X it is.

Given that there are a lot of people in Europe who can't afford to go to the US for a TAM, I'd say a Europe-based TAM could have decent numbers attending but without a proper survey of Euro-Skeptical societies, I'd hate to commit myself to a number.

ON the CRUISE I took to Alaska last year there was a sieable contingent all wearing these STAND TO REASON badges--at first I wondered--wow is this some skeptical critical thinking group I just happened to be cruising with---then I listened in to a few of their conversation snippets and saw them all bowing their heads for grace...then I looked them up on the internet---there ought to be some sort of truth in advertising law that would shut down the use of the word REASON for those folks...it is a young earth creationist organization! AHHHHH!

Vegas seems the best for attracting celebrities without being too expensive--LA and NY would get more celebs but be too expensive for many..though based on the auctions I am not sure there is any shortage of disposable income for this group...so maybe LA or NY would work...they should consider it...then again maybe it is the COST that is borne by the JREF that is the weakest link here...

A Euro-Tam would be a step in the right direction. Many U.K. skeptics complained that the TAM was too far away, a bit on the expensive side for them and the subject topics aren't as topical(?) to them as the U.S. fest.

It could serve as a half-way house for folks on the east coast --who fancy a holiday along with Euro-Tam-- and the rest of Europe if it were to be centred in London, Paris or Amsterdam (don't get any ideas with the last one).

The 10 hour flight was a killer for me but, I loved every second of it!

I reckon we could manage a modest 150 in numbers, hazard a guestimate.

I don't think all that many people have all that much of an idea just how much work it takes to arrange a conference like this.

Ooooh, I'd like Orlando.
I'm moving there anyway, it'd make things much easier for me...
