I happened to be at the NCSE website, and saw this:
Covering Creationism: The Good, the Bad, and the Irrelevant
A talk at “The Amazing Meeting 5", hosted by James “The Amazing” Randi, in Las Vegas, NM. The coverage of the creationism/evolution controversy has varied considerably from source to source: because the controversy ultimately is a political rather than a scientific issue, proponents of one or another side tend to put their own spin on the same events. Coverage -- and accuracy -- also varies depending on whether the reporter is a science or a political reporter. The press always wrestles with the issue of balance, and it is important for coverage to be fair and accurate. However, presenting religious views as equally valid to evolution misunderstands what "balance" means. Reporters vary considerably in their understanding of this point.

Although--BOO! I now have to find money to actually go
