I was reading about a spontaneous remission case when it struck me.

Most people in the western world who have life-threatening cancer will have conventional treatment AND people praying for them AND some complementary treatment (from completely woo-woo to just plain thinking poisitvely).

Now, when spontaneous remission occurs, the only people who DON'T claim credit for it is the conventional treatment people. Doesn't that say something?

Means they are honest, because when working with highly complex and not fully understood and measured systems, you can never be sure what caused a change.

Unless you have a lot of nearly identical systems, which just differ in one single parameter and some of them do not change, then you can conclude that the change has to do comething with that parameter(= you do a DBPC).
