Massa says he was forced out because Democrats want to pass health care so he was targeted.

What? Sexually harassing a male staffer? Ah, homosexual sexual harassment was just an excuse to get him.

I'm no fan of "Obamacare", but, give me a break.

That said, as powerline adds...

What to say about all of this? A plague on all their houses, I suppose. Here is what seems remarkable: driving home from work tonight, I heard the news a couple of times on different networks. There was no reference to the Massa story. Is that astonishing, or what? Here is a thought experiment: imagine that it is 2006; for Eric Massa, substitute the name of any Republican Congressman; for Rahm Emanuel, substitute Karl Rove; and imagine that a Republican Congressman called Rove "the son of the Devil's spawn," while accusing Rove and the Bush White House of conspiring to force him out of Congress--sometimes, while naked--because he opposed the war in Iraq. Do you think that might have made the evening news? I think so, too.

You don't understand. 'Obamacare' is so evil, it will make you gay. And an ******* who will sexually harass people.

Way to one up death panels!

He's gonna be on Beck's show tomorrow for the whole hour. It should be entertaining.

To be sure, here is his original admission:

"I will resign my position," Massa said in a statement.

"... There is no doubt that this ethics issue is my fault and mine alone," Massa said. A visibly upset Massa said an ethics investigation would tear his family apart, adding, "It´s not that I can fight or beat these allegations. I´m guilty."

I've gotta think he was telling the truth about Emanuel. That's pretty much inline with Rahm's rep as a thug.

Plus he named a time, place, event which liars usually wont do to prevent being pinned down.

"The Onion"'s headline from the time of the scandal with NJ governor's gay lover still applies: "Gay man tearfully admits to being governor of New Jersey".

By the way, I never understood the "gays make other people gay" argument; if you aren't gay, you don't want to be.

The French have a way of making you gay "Wake the Fruit Inside!".

I'm going to be crucified for saying this, but the U.S. Congress (and politicians more generally) need better gay members. (Notice, I didn't include lesbians... women are perhaps more sane than men, regardless of sexual orientation).

The biggest problem (by far) has been closeted (and anti-gay!) Republicans ... but even the democrats have had their share of scandals ....Barney Frank, New Jersey Gov. James McGreevey, and now this tool ...

I'm not saying that gay members are more corrupt than their heterosexual counterparts. What I AM saying is that a community that is struggling for equal rights and acceptance has need of better members. Just as baseball needed an exemplary man like Jackie Robinson to help break the color barrier... Or even MLK himself....

ETA: The constant use of the word "member" in this post was purely unintentional, and in no way points to any sexual identity issues on my part. :)

Politicians are politicians regardless of their marital affairs. I don't care if they're gay, lesbian or whatever; Improve the quality of the politicians overall and I'll be happy. In the end politicians are people, and some people overstep their boundaries wrt to their jobs.

Having said that, I heard about this a couple days ago. Some of his statements outside the devil's spawn one, were... how do you put it? Bizarre...

I agree. A community of people so immoral, disgusting in their behavior, and shunned by most decent people better do something quick if it is to avoid being lynched by the outrage of normal people.

...oh, I'm speaking about the community of congressmen, of course. :D

Unfortunately, he was my representative. I remember the campaign. On a local forum, a member of the far right referred to Masa as "the briefcase carrier", a reference to his being an adjutant of Gen. Wesley Clark (IIRC).

Maybe the briefcase carried his collection of briefs.
