Some dozy is suing NASA after the mission to destroy the recent comet was succesful.
"This impact could have altered the orbit of the comet, so now there is a chance that the Tempel may well destroy the Earth some day!"

Here ;)

I think there's a rising in her Uranus! ;)

Obscure post title, caught me out!! I didnt think it had been mentioned,I read about it today!!:(

Forgive my pedantry, but getting the details right is important.

Deep Impact was never designed to destroy Tempel 1, its purpose was to create a crater on the surface. Watching the length of time, size, and formation characteristics of the crater gives information about the outer layer of the comet. Cameras aboard the Impactor recorded unprecedentedly detailed views of the surface. Newly exposed core comet material, thought to be undisturbed for over four billion years was ejected and examined by the Flyby and ground telescopes for physical and spectral content.

(Did some work on several subsystems on both Deep Impact spacecraft.)

I followed all the Deep Impact news very closely and I am totally fascinated by it. Unfortunately, I saw some news outlets picking the wrong headlines, words and stories. However, the media is not (yet) as bad as in the U.S. over here, so 90% of it was very interesting and scientific information. I just hope we can continue to finance our public television over here, so far they still provide two of the major channels and regarding scientific issues they are always very accurate. And no commercials ;)

Let's assume for a minute that she is correct, the change in the orbit of this comet will profoundly affect her life and that of others. This leads to the inevitable conclusion that astrology is pure bunkum since there is no possible way an astrologer could take into account the effects of all bodies of this size in the solar system, let alone the universe.

Let alone she would not have had the slightest idea that this comet existed in the first place without the information from these nasty scientists... Just like the likes of her didn't take the outer planets into account before they were discovered by real astronomers.

"The impact changed the magnetic properties of the comet, and this could have affected mobile telephony here on Earth. If your phone went down this morning, ask yourself Why? and then get in touch with us," says Mr Molokhov.

HONESTLY!

What's the intensity of the magnetic field once it reaches earth? Do these people know the inverse square law??...
