StopSylviaBrowne - Montel: Johnia Berry Reading

This is seriously the best example they could come up with?

Oh dear, oh dear. It was certainly very telling that the only 'hit' Montel could point out was that the suspect was living in the area - hardly a unlikely scenario.

And the gall of broadcasting the episode when they know that she was (again) largely wrong, and could actually be considered to be misleading, is downright shameful.

I hope Johnia's mother doesn't see the show becuase I'm sure it would bring up some very unhappy memories for her.

Shame on Sylvia, shame on Montel.

Another fine piece of work Robert.

I guess. Remember Anderson Cooper? The 3 examples Sylvia's office sent were pretty pathetic examples of Sylvia's "cream of the crop" readings.

Too bad someone can't do a "worst of Sylvia Browne" on tv. Oh, wait, that would take an entire mini-series! :D

I'm surprised that they didn't bring up the fact that she got the name of Shawn Hornbeck's murderer correct ("Michael"), which is something her supporters always seem to bring up when discussing that one.

Oh, it might be that little fact of Shawn not having been killed...

How did this fall through my cracks?! I did research Johnia Berry (she's on the list of cases that had never been solved) and I did come across all the sites devoted to finding the killer many months ago.

It totally escaped my attention, though, that the alleged killer was found or that Montel claimed it as a hit.

I'm glad you found it on your own!

I liked this:

"In this particular case, either:

1. Olson was the murderer, in which case Browne was mostly wrong, or

2. He was not the murderer, in which case the murderer is still loose."

...And the only thing Browne supposedly got right was WRONG!

Great work, Robert!

My heart does go out to the mother of Johnia Berry for having endured such a tragedy. Is it just me or does it seem wrong to anyone else to hear Sylvia saying that this poor girl didn't feel any pain, that she was "above her body?" It was evident from the mother's reaction that she didn't believe it anyway (her daughter had gone door to door trying to get help after the attack). But to me it seems WRONG to send a message that people being brutally attacked feel nothing. I understand that it might be a comforting thing for the family to hear, but isn't it is unlikely to be true? And so it doesn't do justice to the victims who suffer through it.

No doubt Olson was not in gardening or horticulture either, but it would be nice to be able to find out exactly what work he did, just to be able to label it wrong instead of unknown.

I'm curious: What do you think SB's accuracy rate has actually been shown to be? Zero to 1%? Ten percent? What would be statistically expected for the general population, guessing and not claiming psychic ability?

I guess, or why else would they have put it in that show?

Yup.

Another fine piece of work Robert.
Thanks, Worm.

Actually, I doubt there is much difference between her best and worst...

I think the last time we discussed the case must have been before Olson was arrested last September.[/QUOTE]

Actually, it was brought to my attention last Wednesday by a woman with a tangential connection to the family.

Great work, Robert!
Thanks, Ex-M.

I had considered discussing this in the article, but if the family ever reads the article, I didn't want them to read that yes, their daughter obviously did suffer. Something not mentioned in the article: Aymami (the roommate), after being stabbed in the hands, face and chest, ran to a neighboring convenience store to call 911. I think that he could testify as to whether or not he suffered, or was "above his body."

I think that hers is less than ten percent, well within what guessing (educated or not) would give you.

I wonder if it's possible to find out what name SB gave; as Montel claims this is a "hit" would his producers be willing to provide it…or an open appeal for someone that was there during the taping?

Another great article. Shows exactly how bad the other Montel readings must be.

Small correction: On the Articles list on the left hand side of each page it says Johnia Browne instead of Johnia Berry.

Last week, I sent an email to someone in the family asking if they would like to help with information about the reading. If they reply, I will update the article accordingly.

Damn! I found myself almost keying that over and over. I'll fix that this evening. Thanks.

I'd love to ask Sylvia if people don't feel any pain when they're being stabbed, why do they usually scream in agony.

Another great article, Robert. If this is the best they could find for a "Best of" show, it shows how desperate both Sylvia and Montel are.
As for the name being censored, if she had gotten it right you know Montel would have shouted it from the highest mountaintop.

Well she can't be right all the time only 85% of the time according to her website! She's helped thousands of people for a modest fee of $700.00 for 20 minutes that sure is nice of her to keep her fee down to an affordible rate. And I would like to thank the Montel Williams show for bringing on Sylvia in lue of any real guest that are less stupid and more interesting.

Browne: [sarcastically] Don't you love the way people are such good Samaritans?

Yeah, Sylvia. It's a shame we can't all be as giving and generous as you.:mad::mad:

Another great article, Robert. You're really doing a tremendous service for people. Kudos.
