Always good advice. But now official policy of the Consumer Products Safety Commission (link) due to the recent spate of battery ignition incidents.

Luckily Apple is treating its userbase with its typical efficiency, courtesy and speed. It typically only takes three weeks for the problem to be resolved (despite the battery replacement taking an hour or so) though it course there's no policy of supplying and replacement in the interim.

Even long term Apple fanboi Matt Bridges was treated in the way, despite it being actually illegal in most civilised countries (not the US of course). Unfortunately not even this level of being screwed over cured his fannishness; Bridges caved and actually ordered another Mac (rather than a proper, cheaper, computer) to continue working.

This recall is for the 2015 MacBook Pro 15-inch. It was sold between September 2015 and February 2017. This does not involve models released in 2016 and later.

A tad unfair, as Apple does have a policy in place so people don't need to be without their laptop for more than a few hours at worse: all those with suspect laptops can buy a new one!

I often perceive Apple's milking of their customers to be blatant and egregious in the extreme. Case-in-point is MacBook power supplies - there is NOTHING special about them but the proprietary connector (with the status LED's idiotically placed on it) means that if it breaks and you have to replace it in a hurry you're looking at being asked for c. £$€60+ instead of 20 or so for a good quality PSU for any other laptop.

ETA >> I kinda, well, completely missed the humour in your post first time around.

My MacBook has a USB-C. My old MacBookPro (c. 2011 - I still use it for music production) has the proprietary magsafe thingie, for which you can get a replacement for $17.99 on Amazon. Not sure what you're talking about here. Is next-day shipping not "a hurry?" Haven't they been using USB-C for about four years now?

As for "any other laptop," I don't recall this easy, smooth experience and standard connector with Dells or HPs my old Sony Vaio. They had proprietary connectors on them.

Unless you're a prime member, you're not getting that charger next day shipped for $18. In fact, even if you are you're going to end up paying extra for overnight shipping. The cost of Prime is now $100+ a year I think, if not pretty close. I have it, but never pay attention.

Lenovo using proprietary chargers, but you can get mainstream chargers for laptops for pretty cheap. I have 2 for all of my laptops, one that mostly sits in the box.

I'm sure that the North Dakota Amazon experience is quite different than the big city experience. I get almost everything from Prime the next day, and sometimes on the same day.

At no extra charge?

Also, most of America is rural, not big city. Just sayin'

I worked for Amazon here for a few years, and we have a FedEx hub here in town. I won't argue with you, because I have no reason to, but either way *most* of America is not getting that charger next day or same day for no increase cost.

Correct.

1 in 5 Americans live in a rural area.

Simply look for items marked as eligible for delivery today as you search and browse throughout the site. Order in the morning, typically before noon, and get your items by 9 p.m. See program terms & details.

It says $35 and only select items, but I'm in a city and I get almost everything by the next day, and lots of stuff on the same day. It happened on a Sunday morning during football season where I ordered something at breakfast and it showed up around halftime of the early NFL game.

Anyway, IsThisTheLife's point wasn't even about what "most" of America gets or doesn't get on Amazon. It was the Macbook computers run on some proprietary, hard-to-find, expensive charger. Which they don't, as far as I can tell. Maybe I'm wrong. I see the Magsafe charger for $25 at Wal-Mart right now, and the USB-C chargers are more ubiquitous and affordable than the Magsafe ones.

If you have a Windows laptop and need a charger "in a hurry," then where do you go? Is there a place that's likely to have a charger that fits other laptops but not a USB C charger?

I'll concede the rest because...ok. My point of rural vs. urban was lost in translation. For instance, Fargo, ND or even Grand Forks, ND would be considered "urban" by the definition of your link. I know for a fact neither one of those are getting same day delivery. I would assume that is true for urban areas in Wisconsin, Nebraska, etc. There were even some zip codes that weren't available in Minneapolis, which is our nearest, biggest city.

Anyway, without getting too far off base. I would say to answer these questions, I'm generally prepared. 1) I'm an IT guy. So I have a computer graveyard in my house with tons of chargers, etc. 2) As I referred to previously, when I get a new machine that needs a charger, the first thing I do is order another one of the chargers and store it. 3) I'd find an adapter that would work on whatever charger I have.

Though, I'm not your standard Apple user. Without any evidence, I would assume that most Apple users don't have the same level of knowledge or follow through that I have when it comes to devices.
