Here's an email I recently received at SSB:

Dear Robert:

My daughter came across your website after she searched Google to see whether other people had experienced the same thing I did. I am grateful for your site and am requesting your help. Please contact me at your earliest convenience to discuss, thank you.

Sincerely,
[name]

The remainder of the email was the text of a fax he/she had sent to SBC:

Date of Reading: Thursday, October 25, 2012

Length of Reading Shortened By Chris's Choice at 22 minutes & 50 seconds
REQUESTING FULL REFUND OF THE $215.00 PAID
______________________________________________________________________

On October 25, 2012 I had a scheduled reading with Chris that was take place between 2:30 – 5:30 p.m. PST. At approximately 4:04 p.m. his call came in which can be verified by my cell phone; the immediate time I started the recording when I answered the call.

I told Chris that I had looked forward to having a reading like this for a very long time. That I had attended one of his mother's churches in Calgary a long time ago.

Chris's voice tone over the phone appeared to be angry and came across extremely abrupt. It was so much so that it appeared he really did not want to be doing this reading with me. He kept on responding with "Dear." If I didn't know any better this mimicked what I have known his mom to do for years when she spoke to people as I used to attend her conferences in several cities and watched her appearances on the Montel Williams Show.

He asked me if I first wanted him to proceed with what he knew and then I could ask questions, or vice-versa. I agreed to have him go first which was brief approximately 2 minutes and then I interjected and asked if I could ask my questions. He agreed but then his voice tone changed even more – more abrupt, was rushing me to the point that it appeared he was finished with me and wrapping it up way before the time was even expired. I fully intended to use my full 30 minutes I was being allotted.

The experience with Chris was like I was wasting his time and he would rather be somewhere else. I teared up because the money I used to pay for this reading was like precious Gold to me. As anyone would expect, I was seeking honest, truthful, and spot-on answers I have personally experienced through other psychics I've had readings with since the age of 16 years. These psychics I had readings with were bang on with their information and the time-lines were as they said they would be. Unfortunately that was years ago and I lost touch with them.

I was watching the stop watch on both phones which were in sync with each other as I was asking the questions. Chris's responses appeared way off and I thought it was me and the way I was asking the questions. I was thinking to myself, maybe I am being too vague but my questions upon review were not vague at all. They were clear, direct, and to the point. I shared some extremely confidential information with Chris and now regret the entire event because at 22 minutes and 50 seconds Chris wrapped up the call and I was left in shock and tears because there was still 7 minutes and 10 seconds left that I had not used in my allotted 30 minute time-frame..

None of this made any sense and I wanted answers as to why this happened, and whether or not this has happened to anyone else in their reading with Chris. The result, my daughter started Google searching and found out that I was not the only one. It has happened to many people, plus we found a whole slew of other information that exposes the real truth about Sylvia, Chris, other family members who work with them, and the office staff. I was devastated even more because throughout all these years I faithfully followed Sylvia, bought her books for myself, friends, business colleagues and others. I always held Sylvia in the highest esteem, had the greatest respect for her, believed in her, trusted her, as well, that she truly cared about and wanted to honestly and unconditionally help people with her gift – being a psychic and medium.

My whole world turned upside down when I read stories of many others including ex-ministers of the SNS. I was shocked to read true accounts and submissions from some of the people I happen to know from a long time ago. I recall the day that an announcement was made at the SNS in Calgary that due to differences of philosophies the church would be separating from the SNS. Not once did the Ministers running this chapter ever bad mouth or say anything negative about Sylvia or her organization. With what I know as of yesterday, I wished they had told me everything. Unfortunately in hindsight, my daughter and I took what was said to us with the utmost respect as differences of opinions, philosophies, and or religious practices do occur from time to time and churches do separate and go on their own. The choices of whether or not to follow the new or old church is left up to the individuals to make for themselves. Silly us, we should have checked, researched, or questioned this abrupt change further, but never did until yesterday.

Then we saw the light when we took off our rose coloured glasses about Sylvia and her "scam team." All the truthful facts, personal experiences, and other information shared by many others (including Ian, other SNS Ex-Ministers, the general public, etc.), were posted online. Now, it all made sense.

I'm sure you are aware of all of this and now my daughter and I are as well. We now feel we have been scammed and it is for this reason I am requesting a full refund be issued to me immediately for the amount of $215.00 your organization put through my Wells Fargo Account on October 17th, 2012.

In all honesty, I do feel like an idiot that I allowed myself to fall into your trap; faithfully believing you, promoting you to many others all of these years without question, or hesitation.

From the information presented throughout the Internet I hope that my daughter and I will not be bullied by anyone within your office because of my request to be fully refunded for the reasons stated above. As well, that the extremely confidential information shared with Chris will remain with Chris and not be shared with anyone else in the office or otherwise whether they are known or unknown; a common tactic used by people who have been exposed for scamming others and used against the innocent party to "pay them back" or harm them in some way.

It is beyond reprehensible that all of you can partake, and support each other in exploiting innocent, vulnerable people for your own personal gains especially financial. After reading all of the testimonials it is crystal clear this is, has, and will forever be all that you are interested in.

In closing, there is one thing I am extremely grateful for and that is: all the courageous people who came forward and posted the truth online about all of you. My daughter and I have learned from this mistake and will use the lessons learned in future so neither of us make this same mistakes twice. I look forward to receiving the credit back immediately and request that your office not send or contact me with any further communication, whatsoever.

Yours truly,

I replied asking the correspondent how I could be of help, but have yet to receive a reply.

Robert,

I suggest that you invite her to read the JREF forum, in particular the current threads about John Edward and Mark Edward vs what's her name, the Long Island Medium.

While your site has certainly opened her eyes re Browne, it might help her to see that there are others just as bad -- so that she doesn't fall into the "Browne is a fake but X is not" trap. (See the two threads in which Robin Stettinich has been posting.)

It is sad, even though part of her outrage is directed at Chris and Sylvia for not being as genuine as past psychics.

Regarding her letter, I think she is presuming that Sylvia and Chris et al privately acknowledge that it is a scam and know your web site to be the revealed truth, which they don't.

I doubt Chris's attitude in the reading will be of any concern to them either. It seems more likely that they would consider their manner to be appropriate for world-famous psychics who deserve to be treated like royalty, and anyway, in Sylvia's eyes Chris can do no wrong. Well, at least that's the way it used to be.

If she wants a refund, they may give her one for being dissatisfied with the contents of the reading. Or not. I have no idea how often people get refunds there, do you? It does seem that some people report having gotten them.

And it seems more likely to me, based on past experience, that her revelation, as important as it was to her, was forgotten as soon as she said it.

Anyway, it was interesting to read that detailed summary of her reading with Chris. Interesting to hear another person say their 30-minute reading was actually more like 20.

I could sympathize with her frustration that no one ever talked about the real problems with the church. It's true mostly, and I think that is partly due to the New Age idea that it is bad karma and unspiritual to ever say anything bad about anyone or anything, and second, that if you are going to continue to believe in Azna or other tenets of a church created by Sylvia, it is impossible to completely discredit her without discrediting what you believe since the major points of the religion, Azna, Om, etc., all came from her spirit guide.

Thanks for posting this! I hope she gets her refund.

From their web site:

The length of time for your reading varies with each individual depending on your questions to a maximum of 30 minutes. Most readings average between 20 to 30 minutes

BTW, I notice she is starting her 2013 tour in PA. Don't you wonder how the fans felt who bought into the whole "this is Sylvia's LAST year touring" thing and rushed to buy tickets? As I recall, that last year thing lasted a few years. Seems to be no mention of it now.

Much as I despise Sylvia and everything she stands for, she is certainly not alone in the entertainment world in announcing a farewell tour, then coming back a few years later. The Who, David Bowie, Cher, Barbra Streisand and others come to mind.

That's very sad. Hopefully she gets a refund.

I just went over to Browne's website and saw:

Maybe the 62% off Sylvia and Chris' readings a sign that there is less people interested in their readings?

Yeah. But don't these entertainers actually go away for awhile? Sylvia never left. She just did a few years of farewell tours, which were pretty much identical to her non-farewell tours, and then stopped calling them farewell tours as if nothing ever happened. Thus creating the impression, in some skeptical minds, that it was a stunt to generate income.

While this is true, Sylvia specifically said, when announcing her "Farewell Tour", that she was NOT going to be "like Cher", and have multiple Farewell Tours.

Don't misunderstand ... It's 62% off the reading, not off the cost. Instead of 20 to 30 minutes, you only have to listen to the nonsense for 8 to 11 minutes! :-)

(Actually, 12% off of 50% off is really just 56% off the total ....)

She should have called them her "I thought I might be retiring this first year but I changed my mind and this farewell tour thing worked so well I think I'll just keep doing them every year until things pick up and I go back to calling them normal tours because my fans won't notice and even if they do, who cares" tours.

But at least they gave full value for the price of the ticket.

Questioninggeller, there's no lack of suckers. Unfortunately.

Evidence (mostly circumstantial, admittedly) seems to indicate that Browne's popularity has waned in recent years. How much of that is due to my site (and other skeptical sites) is open to question. Her no longer appearing on the Montel Williams Show (even before it was cancelled), and its subsequent cancellation are probably the biggest factor in any decline in her popularity, but again, how much my site (and other skeptical sites) had to do with those things is also open to question.

Will there always be a market for her nonsense? Possibly. But the more that market can be reduced via education, the better.

Additionally, Cher and the other entertainers mentioned do not claim to be able to look in to the future. Apparently Silvia can't predict what her own actions are going to be in the future let alone know what is going to happen to those unfortunate enough to give her their hard earned cash.

Keep up the good work Robert.

But Greybeard, don't you know ? Sylvia herself has often said that she cannot be psychic about herself. And on that one point, she and I agree. Now if she would just admit that she can't be psychic about anyone else either...

LOL! Wow! After reading many letters such as these throughout the years I always think I heard it all then some other dummy comes along and lowers the human brain bar even more.

How do these peeps function on a daily basis?
Thanks for the chuckle Robert!

I didn't know that. That is very convenient for her.

Oh, yes. very.

It's how she (and some - but not all - other self-described psychics) justify their apparently not foreseeing the bad events in their lives (in Browne's case, her five or six failed marriages, her heart attack, her felony conviction, the creation of Stop Sylvia Browne, and more).

For some reason it doesn't stop her from claiming to know how long she will live (until she is 88 years old).
