I saw a sign that said stop smoking by using auri(something)pathy or thereabouts.

What is it? Anybody know?

Ah. Well, based on the initial post, I was thinking auri = Au = gold.

I was going to guess something like "Give us lots of gold. If you keep smoking, give us more gold until you stop.":p

and that's diffrent from being a tobacco company how? :p

Tobacco companies are merely well-run corporations serving a market and allowing people to exercise their personal freedom to be swayed by billions of dollars of pernicious advertising, falsified research and then become firmly addicted to a dangerous drug. Then they can exercise that important personal freedom whilst poisoning others in pubs. Or at least they could ;-)

Of course we wouldn't want to dissuade people from poisoning themselves in pubs with one drug, by subjecting them to another ;)

Except, of course, that one drug, when used in moderation (not always the case with the average pub-goer admittedly), has proven health benefits. The other has never been shown to have any significant health benefits at all; and is purely a recreational substance with numerous proven harmful effects.

You'll have to forgive me if I laugh out loud at the idea that publicans are in the health business. :p
