Heres a story about how stem cells are being used to repair a mans sight.

It drives me crazy when the abortion folks want to squash stem cell research ( like GW Bush). I understand ebing against abortion but of some good can come out of it shouldnt we take advantage. It like organ donation if you ask me.

DO you think many anti-abortion types are against stem cell use or is that just a vocal minority getting their way

I wonder if, years from now, when stem cell medicine is a common practice in curing diseases that we can't cure right now, the anti-stem cell crowd will stay on their moral high horses and refuse such treatment for their themselves and their families.

After all, you can't suddenly turn around and favour stem cell medicine when you were once so fervently opposed to research using stem cells.

Of course, they'll be right in line with everyone else to reap the benefits of such technology.

As far as I know, anti-abortion types have nothing against the use of adult stem cells. Bush certainly doesn't.

This procedure isn't like organ donation. It is organ donation. The donor even gave consent.

I have no strong feelings one way or the other on fetal tissue research, but I feel fairly certain that I prefer the use of transplants where the donor gives consent than procedures where the donor does not, as in the case of fetal tissue research and cloning.

As for the future, I suspect that one day we'll be growing adult stem cells of all types with no need whatsoever for fetal tissue.
