BRITISH intelligence hatched a plot during the second world war to flood the world of astrology with fake horoscopes in an attempt to influence Hitler.

They planted fake predictions of his imminent death in a bid to destabilise his regime. Details of the plot are divulged in papers released last week at the National Archives in Kew, southwest London.

There was a book, or series of books about doing something similar with Nostradamus' prophecies. Can't remember the name of it though.

Noted historical writer Dennis O'Neil wrote a book related to this about 20 years ago. There was a shadowy figure involved in the plot who went by various aliases, including Allard and Cranston. His role has been largely ignored by most other historians, so it's worth looking up the O'Neil book.

I find your lack of faith disturbing.

Come on, I can't have been the only one disappointed by this thread's contents

"They planted fake predictions of his imminent death in a bid to destabilise his regime."

Fake fakery? Who could possibly fall for that? I mean, fakery maybe, but fake fakery? That should be completely obvious.

Actually the claims about the bogus astrology predictions has been recently discovered to be a Nazi propaganda scheme.

By casting aspersions on the good name of British astrologers Hitler was hoping to increase confidence in Nazi astrologers and thereby the whole of the Nazi machine.

Although whether this rumour was planted by British Military intelligence we are currently unsure.

All we now know is Hitler knew that British Intelligence knew that he knew, but he didn't know whether the British public now knew that he knew the German people didn't know that the British Military Intelligence knew.

Yeah, but Who's on second base.

The allies had all these psychological tactics like that. They faked an invasion on a different front, they had that castle emitting nothing but fake chatter, and they took advantage of Hitler's superstitions.

"Hitler's a nut on the subject. Crazy. He's obsessed with the occult."
