• Quick note - the problem with Youtube videos not embedding on the forum appears to have been fixed, thanks to ZiprHead. If you do still see problems let me know.

StackExchange? Anyone else involved?

I just wander over there from time to time and lately have been more interested in joining up. Thanks for the reminder! :)

Wow. I just checked out how many categories there are. I hardly new that there was so much more to stack exchange than debugging Mat Lab errors.

I see many of these questions as random rather than skeptical, but none the less I am impressed at the quality of answers some people give.

Glad to have helped. I know that I am enjoying that community tremendously (as well as the astronomy stack exchange).

By the way, may I ask a small favour of at least two of you? Pretty please? I know it's a totally meaningless and downright dumb thing...

So there is a 9/11 conspiracy question about the plane crashing into the Pentagon. It has a very low rating (-6 currently), and my answer has 18 up votes. If I can get two more up votes (while the question maintains a score of -5 or lower) I get a "gold medal" as part of my profile... See, I told you it's totally silly!

But if any of you are so inclined to help me with my OCD or whatever this defect is, I'd appreciate it: http://skeptics.stackexchange.com/q...t-the-pentagon-on-september-11-2001/6193#6193

Sorry @Larian, I apparently don't have any reputation and so cannot upvote. :(

Lol. My inaccessible account has enough rep to do so, but my new one I made one has only a few. So I couldn't either.

[EDIT] Actually it seems that I do have my old account, it is just that it separates your account when you log into a different category and you start from 0 rep in that new category. Makes sense.
Not sure how to gain rep though cause I have no relevant questions to ask, and others seem to be hopping all over the answers.

Thank you Wudang.

If the rest of you have any answers you want to provide, I will gladly give you an up vote. :) That's the fastest way to get reputation.

Somehow my account gets an automatic 100 points of reputation whenever I go to a new site. Not sure how I managed that.

Alright. I'm currently registered under App rop riate S ound. Take the spaces out, of course as I'm not wanting to make it easy for bots to piece together my browsing habits by connecting user names across sites.

I also use a phrase/name generator similar to what the military would use for generating mission names. Some of the phrases that it comes up with are pretty cool and pretty silly.

Got you down there sir. As soon as you have any questions or answers I will make sure to give you votes for reputation.

I asked a general question last night and got 21 rep by the morning. I upped your vote to 20. Your welcome.

Thank you!

I mostly hang out in the Security, LaTeX, and RPG sections but also visit other ones when I notice questions which are interesting to me.

I don't see your RPG account on your profile there. Is it another account name, or has it not yet populated onto your profile?

Maybe not cheating (you can share the answer on facebook, linked in, and all those), this is more about my odd/weird compulsion on the badges. ;)

Thank you again CMacDady.

No. Completely understand.
Its that gawd darn gaming reward psychology thing kicking in. I had a similar problem with PS3 Trophies until I stopped playing any games for a semester to focus on tough classes and realized the trophies themselves were pointless.

I post in several categories sporadically. Music, science fiction, bicycling...I found the skeptic area consisting of much the same sort of lame questions we get on the Mythbusters forum.
