Yawn. From 911myths.com:

We’ve seen this story used as evidence that the Israelis’ van contained explosives, for instance:
Three arrested with van full of explosives

4:27:11 AM

Reports from New York are saying three people have been arrested with a van of explosives.

The van was stopped along the New Jersey turn-pike near the George Washington Bridge.

It was not clear why police stopped the van but when they did they found it was laden down with tonnes of explosives.

But mysteriously this correction from the same source, issued less than 8 minutes after the first story, doesn’t get the same attention:
Police confirm arrests but deny explosives find

4:34:43 AM

NYPD officers have confirmed the arrest of three men on the New Jersey turn-pike.

However officials denied any explosives were found in the van.

Officials declined to say why exactly the men had been arrested.

Please don't entertain this stuff, which has been discussed ad nauseum here. MaGZ can use the search function.

Amen.

I was raised in a German Catholic family which had nothing but the highest regard for Jewish people and Black people. My grandmother was only in this country because of the good offices of Joseph Schaffner, he of the famous clothing firm of Hart Schaffner and Marx, and growing, up our tavern was a place anybody was welcome except bigots, who would be asked to either remain quiet or leave. Gay, straight, lesbian, black, white, mexican, french, irish, italian, german, catholic, protestant, jewish; we had patrons and friends from everywhere. I wish more people could have that kind of experience in their youth; We would have a more peaceful world today.

Someone needs to Call Chris B and tell him to start making up some new original conspiracy theories. These old ones are getting....old.

Well, since MaGZ's post does reference Israelis (and since it's now the "OP", given that this thread's been split off onto it's own), I think I found a movie oddly on-topic:

(Link to movie site)

(Click the "Synopsis" link for a description).

It's got all the elements: Israeli commando, New York location... I think it's reality masquerading as fiction. Whaddayou all think?

pomeroo,

At some point you're going to have to realize that it doesn't cut it anymore to just throw out some junk from the 9/11 Myths site. The debate has evolved. The half-baked crap from Mr. Williams-- like the same from the Popular Mechanics piece a few years ago-- simply doesn't work anymore now that the light of day has shined on it.

So there is a site called BreakingNews.ie that "corrected" itself in eight minutes, and withdrew the report of explosives in the van? So what? Why is that supposed to have any significance?

In the previous thread before the merge I posted a video of Dan Rather announcing that the FBI had two men in custody after stopping the van, and that the FBI had said that the van was filled with enough explosives to do great damage to the George Washington bridge.

How do you suppose such a story could have been reported on CBS new, with all their resources and personnel, if there really were no explosives whatsoever in the truck? Can you please give me some scenario by which such a story could have been "imagined" by someone and then made its way onto the desk of one of the most well-know journalists in the world?

The original post in the original thread asked if there were any sources other than obscure "troother" sites that reported the van with explosives. I presented a clip from CBS news. No one here has been able to answer that, and instead we get a very feeble "debunking" from even more obscure sites like 911myths and BreakingNews.ie!

Gravy, pomeroo, AMTMAN.......

quit hiding behind the protective cover of your "Antisemitism" smokescreen and start dealing with the fact that Dan Rather reported a truck filled with explosives under the G. Washington bridge on the evening of 9/11.

A number of networks also reported additional planes having been hijacked during the course of 9/11 but later withdrew such claims. Similarly there were a couple of extra explosions reported on 7/7 before the final number was eventually confirmed. Its called making a mistake in the heat of the moment.

Yes it does. You've already made up your mind and nothing is ever going to convince you otherwise. Other people, however.....

Dan Rather was there on the ground and witnessed this with his own eyes?

Chinese whispers, hysteria, jumping the gun (the imperative to be first with the news trumping fact checking and verification.....if it bleeds it leads, right?)

But only 'truthers' cling desperately to these early, confused, unverified reports.
Ahem, you do, of course, realise that if the police really had found a van full of explosives and arrested some suspects and yet now this is all denied.......... you know where I'm going with this?

There is no dispute about the fact that Rather reported it.....

cue screenshot of CNN saying the space shuttle was travelling faster than the speed of light....oh and that cute one with Truman holding up the newspaper showing he'd lost the election.

Well, since we're on the topic of considering all reports from CBS regarding this topic, how about acknowledging this:

"Marcia Kramer of WCBS-TV, our CBS-owned and -operated station in New York, reported some time ago that the FBI had in custody two suspects caught with a pickup truck of explosives around the George Washington Bridge; now further checking on that story that other law enforcement officials in New York said they knew nothing about it, and now Jim Stewart is saying that FBI headquarters in Washington knows nothing about it. We'll have to put that in a long line of things that's under the 'Well, we're skeptical now.' Maybe it's true and maybe it isn't."

-- Dan Rather, 9/11/2001.

One report is a followup casting doubt on the origina report. Seems as though that should be taken into consideration, given that they're from the same person in the same organization. Right?

That's because the Joooos who control the network quashed the story! The brave goys were trying to tell the world of the Evil Zionist Plot to kill our gentile babies and drink their blood, but the JEWS killed them11!!!1111!!!!!

Jews Jews Jews Jews Jews Jews!!!!!!!!! They're EVERYWHERE! They're responsible for EVERYTHING!!! How can you people be so BLIND?!?!?!?

Oh, even though it's a major derail - well, come to think if it, not a major one, given that it still (*snicker*) involves an Israeli "agent" in New York - how come no one's got any commentary on the movie I linked?? C'mon! It's got Emmanuelle Chriqui in it!! Emmanuelle Chriqui!!!

(Okay, so it has Adam Sandler in it too... never said it was flawless...)

(Bump bump bumping link!!)

(Just how much trouble can I get in for really trying to derail a thread like this anyway??...:D)

Breaking news.ie is a small irish web based affair. It has limited resources and no journalists in the field, they are in an office and rely on wire feeds and stringer services. It possessed no journalists or reporters on the ground in New York, New Jersey, or anywhere else for that matter.

What's more than plausible is that they went and published something unverified and untrue, and realised their mistake and removed the incorrect material.
