On the website now is an excerpt from a panel discussion at the second Amazing Meeting (TAM 2 or TAM2), held in 2004, held at The Tuscany in Las Vegas.

There are a few comments of interest, but what delighted me was the appearance at around the 2:00 mark, of a cloth that the Amazing Randi unfurls. The cloth remains in front of Phil Plait for most of the discussion.

What ever happened to that cloth?

Well, as it happens, I have it. It is in my office at home, mounted in a shadow box with other mementos of the meeting: some amethyst from Slick, a spoon and golden envelope from Ian Rowland, photos of me with various guests or visitors, photos of the places I went.

As for the memories of the meeting, I carry them with me all the time. I'm surprised how often that meeting bubbles up into my consciousness. Someone asked me about TAM 2 just a couple of days ago.

I thought about bidding for it, but I didn't because I figured I would buy it and stuff it in a drawer, too lazy to have it mounted. I thought someone like yourself, who was really into magic should have it. I was going to put it in a shadow box as well.

I did end up getting a framed & signed Randi milkjug poster at TAM5(?).

Some names from the past. Slick got his panties in a twist over a sexist/homophobic/whatever joke Hal made, which everyone else found funny. Ian Rowland likely won't ever be back, as it is considered poor form to beg for money at the end of your presentation. Plus, to be honest, he's something of a tool. I went out drinking with him and a few others later that night.
