So Why Is The Gospel Still An Offense?

Is it the message of Christ’s sacrifice on the cross that you find offensive?
Or is it the Christians who share the message with you?

Over and over I hear people stating mostly it’s the Christians they find offensive rather than Christ. If you judge Christ by his followers then you are not seeing him right since Jesus was the only sinless being who ever lived. I also think it best to remember Jesus said it is not the well that need a doctor but the sick so Christians just have gotten to a place where they agree with God and they know they need a Savior then we repent and follw his teachings. Do we do it perfectly no, but we admit our need for forgivess as all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. If you could truly have the gift of repentance then you would know it’s all true.

So again I ask if God has made a way of escaping judgment for each of us who would not want to take it? The message of the cross is only foolishness to those who are perishing, but the good news is you still have time to change your mind and receive what Jesus did for you on the cross. He died for all of us so we could be reconciled to God, what’s so offensive about that?

I could list several ways it might offend me, but more to the point, it's not true. If you can show it to be true, we'll talk about how it may or not be offensive.

Quickly here, it was Mary who was born without sin, according to Christianity. Whether she remained that way according to myth, I don't know.

For me, personally, I'm not offended unless any religious person tries to force their beliefs on me. As for a god/s, I cannot be offended because I don't believe that they exist. Period. The religious texts are myths, imo. I don't speak for others here, but I'm sure some will answer your question better than I can.

Kathy,
Just about everything you post asks readers to accept the existence of Jesus as a divine being as true and then asks questions or makes statements with that assumption as background.

If you want anyone to follow you on any of your discussions, you first have to prove those points that you take as a given, because most here don't agree with you based on the available evidence.

Let's head this one off before it becomes the trainwreck the last thread you posted on this was.

You're assuming things about others and their beliefs in an attempt to paint your faith as persecuted somehow. It's a bit patronizing of you to think we wouldn't notice that.

1. Life brings suffering.
2. The origin of suffering is attachment.
3. Suffering can be overcome.
4. The eightfold path will lead to an end to suffering.

Kurious_kathy, the above truths have helped many people reach nibbana and end their personal stress and grief. Why do you refuse to follow the eightfold path?

Okay well do you believe that Jesus lived? We have other historic documents other than the Bible to prove he lived and many witnesses shared their testimony of his life here on earth, so do you know Jesus is historical fact?

Mostly because I find the arguments (on both sides) rather tedious, I'll grant for now that Jesus lived. Now, on with the proving the supernatural bits.

We've done this in other threads, but I'd like to see which documents you think confirm the life of Jesus. Can you link to them or at least name them?

Oh, and every piece of documentary "evidence" of the historic existence of Jesus have been discredited. Other threads have dealt with this.

Hmm? I thought that there was sufficient evidence for the existence of Jesus as a person - just not evidence, you know, that he walked on water and did stuff with fish and loaves. Am I wrong?

Oh, and thanks for the welcome. I've been reading here for a loooonnnngggg time, but I only registered recently, as you can see.

Who told you Mary was born without sin? That's a big fat lie that Catholics were taught but it's not biblical at all. She knew she was a sinner like everyone else who needed a Savior.

And if you ask me you have bought a big lie. Christianity is the one true religion but it's not about religion but that we can have a realtionship with God through Christ.

There is all kinds of evidence in history but Satan has worked very hard at deceiving people to it. Have you read the historical documents by Josephus? That's one but there are many more. I would like to share these articles with you on Charlies website and have you take an honest peek and listen to the audio too then get back to me on your opinion on a few things. http://www.alwaysbeready.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=161&Itemid=128

I would also like to have you go over this for non Christian evidence of the historical Jesus http://www.garyhabermas.com/books/historicaljesus/historicaljesus.htm#ch9

Welcome Kay. But you have started out in a thread which could easily end in tears. :D
