anyone else catch this guest on the old Art Bell show.

She was imparting the wisdom of elves....

I thought I had had one of those dreams where you dream you are awake but no, the insomnia was real and this woman talks to elves.

Apparently, all it takes to see them is to visual an elf in detail...I must get their cookie recipe. :D

No disrespect to any believers, but really? elves?

Elves? Sure, why not?
 
You're absolutely right of course and yet, somehow, this seems more foolish to me. I wonder why that is? I'll have to examine my own biases...

Elves and dead people seem to like to play favorites. They don't just talk to anyone...just special people.

Guys, she's simply suffering from auditory and visual hallucinations. There are actually very good medical treatments to help people like her.

The elves didn't just appear to her, she kept imagining what they looked like and then the buggers started popping up. Interesting how they obviously just happened to look like what she imagined...

The callers were also telling about their elf-related adventures. Apparently, lots of people see them. In my 5 years of psychiatric crisis management (another lifetime ago), I never met an elf person.

Visual hallucinations this complex are actually very very rare Sometimes they can happen with brain tumors and most commonly with acquired blindness in which it is called Charles Bonnet Syndrome and is not a sign of mental illness.

She is either a scammer, has a tumour or is caught up in the woo wooism of the week.

For her sake, I hope it's just a scam...
 
I wouldn't say she's a scammer judging by what she says about how the elves came to her. Seems to me she honestly began to imagine the little critters and they eventually became more and more real to her. As for whether these sorts of conditions are rare, I'm not so sure - I'm not an expert so my knowledge of the area is purely anecdotal, but I did come accross a woman before who actually saw and heard things that weren't there. She knew it was a mental disease though. Maybe she was just making it up for attention, I don't know - like I said I have no experience in the area.

As for the other people, I'd say it's the same as people who talk to aliens or angels or ghosts or whatever. It only takes one to have others wanting to do the same thing :p

What a bunch of cynics! Clearly, she is being visited by demonic entities who have a plan to steal her soul and then use her empty body for their diabolical, sexual purposes. I know about these things.:D
They show themselves to her as elves, when they are really vile beings birthed from the bowels of the hottest level of hell. If Art really cared, he would get her an excorcism. Preferably by this couple, also known as the dynamic devil fighting duo of Ed and Lorraine Warren. http://www.warrens.net/

It is no worse than all the xians who claim that god or jesus talks to them. The elves are just a variation.

What worries me is the people in positions of power, like generals, who waffle on about this kind of thing.

This has happened to me before as well and I'm absolutely convinced the acid I had taken several hours before had nothing to do with my experience :D
