Hey Guys and Gals,

The UK's second SitP will open in May.

Who's there?
Dr Simon Singh @ Leicester skeptics in the Pub No.1

Hi All,

Some time ago you enquired about Skeptics in the Pub. We’ve now got enough interest to make this work, so here is the first invitation.

The first date is Tuesday the 20th May at 7:30. The pub is the Criterion in Leicester - click here for info on the pub.
This meet will be an talk by Simon Singh and if the interest is good enough I’ll try and arrange another speaker for the next meet.

Please RSVP.

Many thanks,

Simon

I will be there, Ed willing. And Ange will be pissed off, because she hates you all, and I normally give her a lift home on Tuesdays.

I'll be there, provisionally. If it is in a pub. If, as my PM box threatens me, it will be held in anything that can be described as a "Secular Hall", I shall be mysteriously absent.

I can't not ask. What's wrong with a 'secular hall'? I mean, don't get me wrong; I'd much prefer sitting round a table with a beer, but sitting in another location for proceedings and then proceeding to a pub afterwards seems acceptable to me. What am I missing? Apart from the fact that you could fall out of the door of the Criterion and land in your house.

Could you change the date too? Only Tim wants a UK skeptics meet in May, and we could combine the two if it was at a weekend, and that would be good in many ways.

You'd have to speak to the organiser, Simon Perry, if you wanted it to be changed.
But it doesn't take a genius to work out what the answer would most likely be...

Due to popular demand, the venue is now:-

The Park
Hotel Street
Leicester
LE1 5AW

Just around the corner from the R&D anyway, so no need to change your plans any further.
All times and other details remain unchanged.

We have managed (just) to scrape our way into the local rag, The Leicester Mercury. The article's not exactly lengthy, or even factually accurate, but it's a whole heap better than nothing!

Also, locals, you can catch our chief Simon Perry on BBC Radio Leicester tomorrow, Fri 16 May, probably at some time shortly after 10am.

Hmm, someone should probably change the web site details!

Can't go myself, unfortunately, but best of luck and hope the event grows :)

Good job chaps! You're all doing exactly the right thing!
We may be filmed by ABC tv at the next London bash on Tuesday too!

A science author is due to speak at the inaugural meeting of a group of complementary health sceptics.

Simon Singh, whose books include Big Bang, will be at the event on Tuesday, at The Park, in Hotel Street, Leicester.

The meeting starts at 7.30pm and further events take place on the third Tuesday of each month at The Rutland and Derby Arms, in Millstone Lane.
