Skeptical Fiction anthology

Two questions:

1. A few months ago I seem to remember reading a thread in which someone was proposing to produce an anthology of short stories with a theme along the lines of "If the paranormal was real". Has this progressed any further?

2. Can anyone point to a list of recommended fiction with a skeptical theme? If not, would this be a good place to create one? I think Lynne Kelly's "Avenging Janie" would belong on the list, but I think a list should have more than one title!

Cheers

That was me. I proposed it thinking it would make for a good anthology, and got maybe half a dozen responses. The ideas were fantastic, but to make for a good anthology I would have needed at least a dozen decent submissions. So I've shelved the idea for now.

While I'm elbow deep in work at the moment, I also live in Canberra and am on the CSFG mailing list, and am looking into attending one of their meetings in coming months (wanted to go this month, but can't make it unfortunately). But I do plan on getting back into writing later in the year, and with that maybe try for a second attempt at raising interest.

If you're interested in running with it, go ahead. I'd like to see the project move more than simply have my name attached to it.

Fair enough.

Oh, you are kidding me. I'm one of the founding members of the CSFG, and on the committee. In that case, I hope you can come to some meetings in the future.

Hm. I'd love to, but starting an anthology at the moment is one thing I don't have time for.

Having previously said I don't think the theme would be acceptable for a CSFG anthology, there's nothing stopping me raising it in discussion.

OK, cool.

I'll endeavour to make it to the next meeting. In the meantime, I'll pull out some of my old short stories and see about dusting them off and sprucing them up.

Hope to meet up later!
