Shotgun Wedding?

The widow left behind by both men:

Linked Article said:
Mr Graham contacted widow Cheryl Cottle a year later expressing his gratitude.

They continued their correspondence before meeting in person and eventually falling in love.

The couple married in 2004 and moved to the US state of Georgia with the six children they had from previous marriages.

In a 2006 interview with a local newspaper, Mr Graham said he felt an instant and unusual attachment when he met his donor's widow.

"I felt like I had known her for years," Mr Graham was quoted by The Island Packet as saying.

Since both men did have the same wife in common, it seems it would make it more difficult to establish causality involving the transplanted heart.

It sure is the kind of a story that screams for woo, to some folks.

Hmmm. I hope his suicide was investigated very thoroughly. Two suicides doesn't sound coincidental, it sounds absolutely fishy.

Wonder what happened to the heart, I mean, can they re-tread it again?

What, for a second time, you mean?:

Free to good home: Human heart; pumps like new; only two previous owners; any trial welcome; genuine callers only please.

Actually, interesting thought: given that the first guy topped himself with a shotgun (presumably alone?!?), does it seem feasible that his heart could have been used for donor purposes? How long do they stay good for out of a freezer? Perhaps he topped himself mid-winter!

Which brings up another question: if they can use it again, do they have to advise the new recipient that both previous owners killed themselves, sort of like homeowners in some places have to disclose to buyers that their house may be haunted?

Suspicion indeed, but I would assume the police will check that out carefully!!

I wondered about that too. Someone must have called for help after hearing his shotgun.

I'd give this story an 8.9 on the ghoulish 1-10 scale.

There was at least one case where a heart was transplanted, and when the recipient died several years later was transplanted again. So it is at least theoretically possible.

Hm, rather coincidental. Either this lady is a murderer or a really bad wife.

You forgot a third option: She has really bad taste in men.

Don't be so quick to discount that the husbands may have been the "flawed" ones. Some women are attracted to that ... they are usually either co-dependant or they think they can "save/fix" the guy.

I think this part of the article is important:

The guy was obviously quite suggestible, so it's no surprise he chose the same way to commit suicide. That he actually turned suicidial on the other hand, very spooky... I mean, total coincidence.

That is possible. Either way, she needs some advice on dating! :)

Oh yes, this certainly does happen, and I can see how it might apply here.
