If this better belongs elsewhere, I'll have it moved. But, because this was a single picture commentary (as well as a pointed skewering) by Michael Shermer of the notion of psychics, I figured this would be the best subforum to share his pic:

The sign reads "Psychic Fair cancelled due to unforseen circumstances".

Maybe I'm overreacting, but that statement just kills me! :lolsign:

Is that really Michael Shermer's flickr account? "Momentum event"??

Funny sign, though.

I'm guessing it is. When you go up a level, there are pics of cycling, as well as Shermer with various people.

It could also be a fan's site; I don't have enough info to eliminate that possibility. If it is, it wouldn't be the first time someone's masqueraded themselves as someone else known to (some of) the public.

This reminds me of a similar pic I snapped a few years ago after a bad hurricane season in Florida.

I noticed a fortune teller's place of business closed and boarded up with a sign in the window. To paraphrase...

'We lost everything in the recent storms and did not have insurance and gave been forced to move out of state. Thanks for your loyal patronage."

You'd think they would have signed up for insurance weeks before the hurricane. Perhaps weather wasn't their specialty.

I'm reminded of a cartoon (I think it was in Punch years ago) where a psychic sticks her head through the curtains of her kiosk at a fair, and asks a passer-by, "Do you think it'll rain?"
