Shermer on being harrassed by 911 Thruthers

I love Shermer's books. He's done great things. But he's awful at debating. Hope he's learned to never debate again, after his humiliating confrontation with Dr. Dino.

I think Shermer is a great debtor- his problem is that he thinks everyone plays by the rules, and he has a mediocre understanding of the events. He argues from a skeptics position, not a "debunkers"- but conspiracists demand that they get the attention of a debunker.

You gotta love these guys. Instead of talking with structural engineers, they stalk a guy who owns a skeptic magazine.

The second video is great because Shermer pretty much pointed out the cult-like mentality of the 9/11 deniers. He noticed the 9/11 denier was reading off a paper, just like everyone else, and spouted the same lines over and over. He even makes a great comparison of 9/11 deniers with creationists and holocaust deniers. I wish Shermer pointed out that the majority of the arguments of the movement's arguments came from American Free Press. Or another nail to the head would be the fact that Richard Gage has no experience with explosive devices and never designed anything more then two stories.

Shermer was on a book tour promoting a book about the evolutionary aspects of economic theory; his subject on that tour was not 9-11 so he was under no obligation to engage these people.

The ‘truth’ movement has been reduced to stalking public figures with irrelevant questions and then putting the videos up on the internet as if they actually accomplished something.

Shermer did make a great point about the necessity for truthers to have POSITIVE evidence.
