Today, my thoughts aren't on games. They're on my friends. May you all be safe.

That's what I posted, to the best I can remember, on the games forum I was active on at the time, exactly twenty-five years ago. I didn't want to actually discuss the events still unfolding, and it was all off-topic there anyhow. The thread title (same as this one) made the point by simply naming the day, which I hadn't seen anyone do yet but of course it soon became the most named day in our recent history.

What's vivid memory for many of us is just history, known only from recorded stories, for nearly a whole generation now. That's inevitable; there were plenty of older people I've known in my life who, whether they said so or not, clearly believed I'd never really understand the world, never really be wise, because I'd missed experiencing the Great Depression and World War II. I won't follow their example. You don't have to taste anyone else's accustomed flavor of ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ to learn the world is full of ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊.

But speaking of memory, it's worth stopping to remember what was accomplished here in these pages through (primarily) the 2010s. It's the quarter century anniversary of 9/11, but there's hardly a sign of "the Truth Movement" anywhere. No rallies, no well-publicized seminars for major news media, no video release touting the latest smoking gun. This is nothing less than a victory for reason and for history. Sure, the facts and the physics have all been on the "debunkers'" side, but it took a lot of hard work and patient explanation to get the facts and physics on the table.

The big thing working in the service of the facts is every so often new photos and videos surface, and each one reinforces the known facts of the events. There was a story this week about a Lithuanian tourist who took dozens of photographs, and went home, and never showed them to anyone outside family. He has several photos of WTC-7, but he still hasn't digitized them. And there are thousands of people like him, whose photos remain in albums, and shoe boxes, Some day we will see some more amazing pictures from that day.

This one was posted tonight on Between Two Towers' Youtube channel. Nice hi-rez video where the WTC-1's core is clearly exposed before collapse:
