Could be wrong, but that looks like a New York tag on that vehicle.
City folk driving to Georgia to hunt the hairy beast? These local yokels have no idea what's roaming their woods.

Georgia doesn't require front plates so that one is probably decorative. It likely says something about Bigfoot.

Anyway, it takes some balls to drive that thing around.

That was me and my brother Fast Eddie, you should have come over and said hello so you could have posted a pic of you with the car.

From their website: "Your mountain adventure starts here at North Georgia's BIGGEST family attraction where entertainment meets education. Expedition: BIGFOOT! Is a 4000sqft complex where you will see the countries largest permanent display of genuine Bigfoot artifacts, life sized exhibits, photos, sketches, large up to date sighting maps, and the World's only Bigfoot Research and Tech Vehicle on display.Enjoy The "Sasquatch Theater", browse the Gift shop, or relax in our Bigfoot Reference Library. Join us for a day you will never forget."

When I read this, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. What exactly is a Bigfoot Research and Tech Vehicle? Because if it's the vehicle pictured above, it look's like they just slapped some stickers on their car door.

They probably have equipment to track bigfoots fitted with a GPS collar!

Doesn't that all-but-dissertation phd guy who escorted Sykes through fantasy land drive a self described bigfootmobile? I'll look it up later, a work meeting beckons.

Hmmm.
That’s not too far away from me. I sometimes grouse hunt (aka aimlessly walk through the mountains with nothing to show for my efforts) near there. Might have to check it out and report back on how awesome it is.

It’s not far from our house, in th “4-lane” between a Blue Ridge and Ellijay on the way south towards Atlanta.

[snip]

Have never quite found the motivation to pay and go in.

I know of a private annual gathering in that area - a music festival of sorts. A sizeable proportion of them could be mistaken for bigfoot at a distance. Additionally, a sizeable proportion of them might mistake *themselves* for bigfoot during the fest. ;)

Also - you have to pay to go in? Thats a missed business oppty. I think the better model is to get folks in the door, and *then* work on lightening their wallets.

Grouse pickings must be mighty slim that far south.

It's basically the southern extent of the range, but they are there. In ever-dwindling numbers.
I cynically use e-bird sighting maps to find likely areas.

Edit: Now that I think about it. Squatchin' and Southern Appalachia grouse hunting are basically the same thing. A real good day is when you end up getting a brief look at a blurry animal through the undergrowth that no one believes you about.

"Sykes told me this afternoon that he has decided to stay for one week instead of going home tomorrow (Tuesday). So now, as we drive home on Wednesday Dr. Sykes will be going with my family in our Bigfootology-mobile."

Obviously, a "Bigfoot Research and Tech Vehicle" is different than a "Bigfootology Mobile." The later doesn't even use meaningless scientific sounding buzzwords in its description, so it can't possibly be as cool.

Do you know that if you call it hiking instead of grouse hunting you can do your aimless walking through the mountains without carrying around the dead weight of a firearm? Also, you can do it at other times of the year than grouse season.
