On Monday June 21st, 2010, Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and opposition leader Tony Abbott were involved in a live webcast called 'Make It Count'. This webcast was organised by the Australian Christian Lobby and was shown (for a fee) in churches right across Australia.

The 'Make It Count' website states the following as the reason for the webcast.

http://webcast.australiavotes.org/about.php
"The Federal Election, to be held later this year will be a significant election. In the 2004 and 2007 elections, analysts and political commentators identified the impact of a Christian vote or Christian constituency. ACL wants to assist this important constituency to make an informed decision on how to vote in 2010.

The reason for my post here is to inform you of a Facebook group that was launched earlier today, asking people to join if they believe that Rudd and Abbott should extend the same courtesy to secular voters. If you're an Australian citizen over the age of 18, and you are registered to vote in Australia, please get involved. Whilst the campaign is certainly in it's infancy, it is our intention to bring this issue to the attention of the Australian media and ask Mr Rudd and Mr Abbott why they consider Christian voters worthy of such special attention.

Ummm - so lets see. The ACL organised this, asked both leaders to appear, which they did, and something was done wrong?

Me thinks you need to work on the difference between mountains and molehills

That's not the issue. The issue is that the two most powerful politicians in a secular country are pandering to the Christian mob.

First you have to show they would not do the same for other non religious organisations. Politicans in Australia often join together for community events that transcends political needs

And therein lies the point of the group. This is the first step in a sincere and genuine request for the two gentlemen in question to extend the same courtesy to non-christian Australians. We're only on day one, and we've got 280 members already, which I think is quite a good start. In addition, I feel the group is justified based on the fact that a similair event occurred in 2007 prior to the last federal election, without any nod given to Muslims, Atheists, Buddhists, Agnostics, Scientologists or Jews.
