Science & the Quran

I've often come across the claim the Quran contains many scientific statements that somehow prove that the supposed writer really was somehow Allah inspired, and as such have recently come across the attached.

I've had little time to review the contents, but would appreciate anyone’s comments.

Thanks

That's mostly wishful shoe-horning of existent knowledge (the earth was known to be spherical long before the Quran was written, for one) and wildly optimistic interpretations to make the book fit reality (the moon reflecting the Sun's light, for another).
Same 'ol same 'ol.
The Quran was actually edited by converted Jews and Christians, who were far better educated than the Arabs who were spreading it around. These men would have known much more than the nomads about the state of reality.
The only "inspiration" in that book or its precedessors was the desire to explain a poorly understood universe in the terms the cultures of the times would swallow.

Anyone who says that this verse:
“He sends down rain From the sky And with it gives life to The earth
after it is dead: Verily in that are Signs For those who are wise.” [Al-
Qur’aan 30:24]

"gives an accurate description of the water cycle" is engaging in wishful thinking.

The Qur’aan and Modern Science: Compatible or Incompatible? said:
Then there was a ‘Big Bang’ (Secondary Separation) which resulted in the formation of Galaxies. These then divided to form stars, planets, the sun, the moon, etc. The origin of the universe was unique and the probability of it occurring by ‘chance’ is zero.
Bollocks

The Qur’aan and Modern Science: Compatible or Incompatible? said:
The Qur’aan contains the following verse, regarding the origin of the
universe: “Do not the Unbelievers see That the heavens and the earth
Were joined together (as one Unit of Creation), before We clove them
asunder?
” [Al-Qur’aan 21:30]
More bollocks

Scientists say that before the galaxies in the universe were formed, celestial
matter was initially in the form of gaseous matter. In short, huge gaseous
matter or clouds were present before the formation of the galaxies. To
describe initial celestial matter, the word ‘smoke’ is more appropriate than
gas.
The following Qur’aanic verse refers to this state of the universe by the
word dhukhan which means smoke.

“Moreover, He Comprehended In His design the sky, And it had been
(as) smoke: He said to it And to the earth: ‘Come ye together, Willingly or unwillingly.’ They said: ‘We do come (Together), in willing
obedience.’” [Al-Qur’aan 41:11]

Again, this fact is a corollary to the ‘Big Bang’ and was not known to the
Arabs during the time of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). What then, could have
been the source of this knowledge?
Rubbish. He's equating nubula(e) with the Earth's sky using the word smoke. Never knew that the earth and gases were able to have will. Funny how that bit of completely non-scientific knowledge is skipped over.

Nothing new here. It's as far as I got. I'm sure the rest of it is also nonsense.

Well there is something in there about an egg as some folks might recall....

They may claim all they want but it is all rubbish and not scientific at all. Tell me one single thing you could do whit the information there that can reproduce in technological advance. If you can’t do it, it’s because it is rubbish.

There's as much "science" in the Quran as there are "predictions" in Nostradamus.
The gibberish in the Quran can, with a lot of effort, resemble current scientific knowledge, but in the context of the times, and the words themselves, it's just garf, assembled in sentences, which can, with the proper blinders and "nudge-nudge, wink-wink" pretend to be factual.

:p

That thread is so worth reading. In fact, it's so worth reading I searched for it. Unfortunately, I can't FIND it. Ah well.

I was chatting with a female Muslim evangelist once and she tried to tell me that there were 4 times as many women on Earth than men because Allah said you could have up to 4 wives. I tried to explain to her that we had demographic statistics showing that simply wasn't true, but she continued to assert it.

The Quran, like the Bible, the book of Moron....er.....Mormon and any other religious revelation wouldn't know what the word science means.
These books are no better than fantasy. Hell, there's no history in none of them as well.
Not accurate history anyway. Sure there's names of various cities and places in practically all of them. But the film Escape From New York is set in a real city, but that doesn't mean the story was true by any stretch of the imagination.
