But if so, why does he think a Govenor has anything to do with that?

Wow. Arnold has the liberal position on all the social policy issues, except for illegal immigration and apparently, his impossible to decipher prayer-in-school position. How will conservatives stomach voting for him?

As directed by our new Governor Arnold, I am required to pray at school. Please bring home any idiotic politician that insists on pushing their beliefs down our diverse population and tell them it's heaven. Perhaps opening the gates of hell might seem redundant given the large amount of media and exposure these god-boys get.

Assuming he actually meant public schools, I'm curious who in the school gets to make that "choice of religion" decision.

On the topic, in general, I feel every student, teacher, and administrator should be allowed pray anytime they choose and I think the First Amendment would back me up on that. However, I also feel that those prayers should be up to the individual and not officially mandated by any authority in the school. If a student wants to pray for good grades before a test, more power to 'em. If a teacher wants to have the students pray for good grades before a test, she's gone.
 
It sounds like the big guy made his first gaffe!

I am sure that at least one of his many assistants will point out that the courts do allow prayer in school provided that it is only done by individual students and hopefully he will listen to them.

School-wide prayer cannot be mandated by the school administrators, other students, off-campus people, the neighbors cat, or anyone else. Basically, as long as the prayer is of an individual and non-coerced nature, it is OK, otherwise, NO!
 
He should just do what we do here in Texas: We force our children to pray to Texas!

Well, not really...more like a pledge...
 
Number of votes ever lost by a politician by advocating people should pray more = ?????? . Not many, I think.

Arnie is just sending vote catching sound bites.... voters love politicians who talk about god and prayer....

Yes, Texas does try to force the prayer, they just call it a "moment of silence", and then two pledges, both the U.S. and Texas Flags. :rolleyes:

I had a moment of silence in high school in a state other than Texas. I was never compelled to pray. I'm not sure how a moment of silence "forces prayer".

The idea is, if you want to pray to your deity, meditate, or just fantasize about girls (which is what I did), its up to you.

Yep, you can do just about whatever you want in your moment of silence.

But believe me when I say, it was not put there to think about girls. And is pretty much pointless.
 
I propose they add a moment of NOISE! Where you aren't allowed to think about anything (unless you usually meditate, and if so, you have to think about something).

So, each kid can have the prayer time to pray to their gods and goddesses no matter who they are-allah, thor, hercules, etc.
And the kids with no religion can all sing twinkle twinkle little star.

That would be a noisy 5 minutes :D

How 'bout at the Walmart, anybody pray there, except for lower prices? McDonald's, except for edible food? At the computer, except for freedom from viruses? In the car, for green lights?
JFK said it a long time ago, the solution to keeping prayer out of school is to pray more at home.

Or is this just a moronic attempt to establish religion?
