While searching through the SCEPCOP site, I found this lengthy article about psychic powers:

http://www.debunkingskeptics.com/Page16.htm

Now, at this moment, I don't have the time to read through the entire article but, I would like to see anyone's thoughts about this issue and SCEPCOP in general. Posts and comments are appreciated.

A bunch of anecdotes, no real data, and a poor application of logic.

Classic believer arguments,
1) One of my own examples is from a psychic reading I got from my acting teacher’s mom about a year and a half ago
Anecdote.
The next 4 and second-hand anectdotes.
2) These next two accounts were recently related to me from my dad.
3) Here's the second story that happened more recently. A few years ago, my dad and a coworker, Eileen, went to a psychic fair
4) This case I heard on my email discussion list is a very extraordinary one.
"“I went to a Psychic fair in Chicago,...
5) Besides using professional human psychics, one can use divination to obtain information from beyond the 5 senses, as in this case:
“I was indirectly at a Ouija board sitting once ..
Anecdotes are not evidence.
...
As you can see, the facts in these incidents don’t suggest in any way that cold/hot reading was involved..
And anecdotes are not facts, either.

As for Gary Schwartz, this article and associated articles can give you a good summary
... and SCEPCOP in general. Posts and comments are appreciated.
The site and arguments therein were not put together to enlighten on the paranormal, it was put together by a few believers with grudges against sceptics (and James Randi in particular) who have poo-pooed their beliefs by destroying most of the evidence that they think supports their beliefs.

It is merely vitriol dressed as "true scepticism".
Truzzi was a loon and a particularly libellous one at that.
John Benneth is no better.
Victor Zammit is the epitome of the ilk.
And WinstonWu is their latest acolyte.

Look their names up on groups.google.com (sci.skeptic and paranormal groups) and you will see what nasty pieces of work these people are.

Psychic reading accounts like this are abundant and come from people of all walks of life. Anyone who does a little research could come up with accounts like these.

:dl: :dl: :dl:

There are heaps of articles he has written. Most of them are of equal quality. Then there is his forum. There are about 8 or so people who participate every week plus a few more who do so less frequently. He forgot to ban the skeptics. As a result the threads he starts either gets ignored or he gets told how stupid his beliefs are.

For his story in his own words see http://www.successfulschizophrenia.org/stories/wwu.html

Or see http://rationalwiki.com/wiki/SCEPCOP

He cannot date American women. They refuse to have anything to do with him. He needs to date women in third world countries. See http://www.happierabroad.com/ebook.htm

Poor guy. Feel sorry for him.

Do a search for Winston Wu in google. Essential if you are asked to date him.

Scecop in a nutshell.

Anecdotal evidence is good evidence, because people tend to tell the truth more than lie. So to ignore this is to ignore a main kind of evidence.

Which is bunk of the highest caliber , like all promoters of psychic phenomenon or ghosts, etc. All the do is lower their standard of evidence, and the take a steamer on anyone who dosn't.

And Winston Wu.... my going theory is he is some form of carlos hoax esque experiment. ( the name, winston wu, just seems to be the icing on the cake. ).

I don't. He's a contemptible human being who pretty much considers women to be noting but receptacles for his sperm. He has openly admitted that he has no moral qualms about using mind control spells, etc on women. Now we know that crap doesn't work, but he thinks they do and thinks using them is acceptable.

To give an idea how gullible he is, when he was shopping for mind control spells he cited all the seller's testimonies as evidence they worked. Those people wouldn't lie, now would they?

Even someone as woo as myself has to seriously object to the nonsense of a website such as SCEPCOP. It is purely ridiculous! Scientific committee? Where? Now excuse me I am going to go spend some time reading there and amusing myself with their funny stories. They should also make some cartoons.

ETA: Sorry, I tried. It is just so repulsive I could not stay there. I will seek refuge at the JREF instead.

You do not need to use the same name as here. You can even change your style of posting. Going over there will raise the average intelligence level of that forum.

No. I registered, but then I decided I didn't like their negative energy. I shan't be found mingling with the woo kind. I'd rather associate with you fine people and good Skeptics.
