Given that a good half of Clinton's presidency seemed to be taken up with the 'blow job' scandal, I wonder why Dubya and his friends appear to be getting off so lightly with the plethora of scandals developing, not just about Iraq, but the corruption involved with Cheney and his links, the failure to prevent 9/11, etc.

Is it just a case of scandal overload?

A Pentagon email said US Vice-President Dick Cheney coordinated a huge Halliburton government contract for Iraq, Time said today, despite Cheney's denial of interest in the company that he ran until 2000.

The March 5, 2003 email, from an Army Corps of Engineers official, said top Pentagon official Douglas Feith got the job of shepherding the contract, according to advance copies of the newsweekly that hits newsstands tomorrow.

Feith had approved the multibillion-dollar deal "contingent on informing WH (the White House) tomorrow. We anticipate no issues since action has been coordinated w(ith) VP's (vice-president's) office," said the email obtained by Time.

The newsweekly said Halliburton won the contract three days later, although no other bids had been submitted.

With any luck in November...time will run out.

Usual Disclaimer: NotaKerrysupporterbutwantBushoutsothisiswhatyougetwhenyourcountrydoesn'thavethepreferencingsystem

Split screen of Bush and Kerry--Bush, grinning, in his "mission accomplished" flight suit, and Kerry walking thru the Vietnamese jungle with his rifle. As the narrator does the voice over, the camera moves closer and closer to the images of the two men:

We live in a serious time. The president must, therefore, take seriously difficult issues that will affect the lives of millions. A serious president will bring remarkable judgment, intelligence, and guts to bear on these issues. Dressing up in a flight suit and pretending to be a soldier is not serious. Bragging to the cameras that a war is over, when the struggle has barely begun, is not serious. Real soldiers understand that the guns are loaded and uniforms should be worn only by those who risk their lives in defense of our country. Serious presidents understand that, too. Now more than ever: Isn't it time for the United States to have a serious president again?

I believe it is, especially after the trauma of 9/11.

On the other hand the administration is suffering from spin fatigue.

I think the problem is that the Bush scandals just aren't exciting enough for the public. Nobody wants to get into the horribly complex details of the way the FBI and the CIA work (or not work as the case may be) or how tangled web of Halliburton's finances and Cheney's defered compensation package.
The Bush scandals lack a hook to really grab peoples attention. Blow jobs get peoples attention, everybody understands a blow job, accounting pratices, defered compensation and communication difficulties between government agencies don't.

I think we must arrange for Mr. Bush to have sex with an intern or two... :D
