It has just been announced on the news that scientists say SARS came from space and that millions of microbes fall to earth daily from passing comets.

did you hear about the new TV programme in Hong Kong? ,,,
'SARS in their Eyes' :D

You almost make it sound like the 'extraterrestrial' origin of the SARS virus is commonly accepted in scientific circles. :)

I presume to refer to hypothesis put forward by Professor Chandra Wickramasinghe, who is a right junky for the whole panspermia thing.

(See this brief article for an overview: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/2931246.stm)

I'm somewhat sceptical of his claims. By his own admissions there is no evidence for his hypothesis, and the reasoning behind his hypothesis is questionable.

I'd appreciate it if you would link your sources on that. There's an announcement just today that SARS might have come from a virus that infects civet cats, which incidentally are not from outer space: http://asia.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=scienceNews&storyID=2804058

I don't know which news it was but I normally watch Sky although this morning I was flicking from BBC to Sky to Granada for some reason. I wouldn't know how to put a link up on here anyway
