Russian Ambassador shot in Turkey

Update - the Ambassador has died and apparently the attacker cited Russia's involvement in the atrocities in Allepo.

Can't say I blame him if that's the true story.

The shooter said "Don't forget about Aleppo, don't forget about Syria" and also "Allahu Akbar".

Probably WW3. I'm sure Trump is in contact with his master right now, getting his marching orders.

Will it be direct involvement - or simply turning around while Russia makes mincemeat out of Turkey?

You think Drumpf will commit troops? Wouldn't shock me but I think his M.O. will be to look the other way as Putin runs ruffshod over the planet.

Why WW3?

Turkey is going to use this to clamp down on terrorists to pacify Russia (ie anyone not agreeing with Erdogan) and Putin will use this to take revenge on terrorists in Syria (ie anyone not agreeing with Assad). And the US can't act against this as both countries are clearly supporting the war against terror.
Everyone wins.

Turkey is a member of NATO. If Russia attacks Turkey, all of NATO and not just the USA is required to come to their aid. Will Putin risk it? Will NATO actually have some balls?

Wait, why will Russia attack Turkey?

I get that there might be angry calls about Turkish security screw ups... but actually launching an attack... what would be the gain from that? It's far more likely to result in an intensification of Russian attacks in Syria.

Putin and Erdogan strike me as two of a kind -- sort of like HItler and Mussolini. This will only bring them closer. It gives Erdogan yet another excuse to extend dictatorial power.
