(Reuters) - Osama bin Laden will probably be captured or killed one day, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said Thursday, but he added he had no idea when.

Asked if U.S. and allied forces were getting closer to capturing the world's most wanted man, Rumsfeld said:

"Close doesn't count. The world will be a better place when he is captured or killed. That is the goal of a great many nations... I suspect that we'll find that it is accomplished at some point in the future and I wouldn't have any idea when."

No one besides the most hard core Chomskite could possibly care when Osama is captured or killed....just so long as he is, and soon.

Every woo-woo on this forum knows that we have Osama locked up in area51 waiting be shipped to Baghdad and found in a hole by Jessica Lynch and Bush himself in time for an October surprise. JJ, Cain, and Zero are 100 percent right on this one.
 
I'm quite sure it was entirely a coincidence that the Iranian hostages were released on Reagan's inauguration day in 1981. I mean, if that were some sort of double cross by Ayatollah Khomeini - after Reagan's team conspired with them to hold the hostages until after the election so that Carter could be defeated - intended to alert the American public, well, I feel certain that somebody would have said something about it.

Hey, I know it is a bit "woowoo", but I DID phrase it as a guess, after all...wanna put some money on it? $5 says Osama is trotted out within a month of the election, and I'd put 3 to one odds on it being within a week either way of Halloween.

Well, he is getting better at his predictions!

This prediction is far safer than the ones about the Iraqi WMDs, the Iraq-Terrorist links, how we would be gleefully welcomed in Iraq, and so on.

Well...this administration has been guilty of some pretty big whoppers, and makes us skeptics a little suspicious of them...I'm not saying that they have Osama in a cage somewhere. I'm just saying that I wouldn't be surprised if the timing is very convenient for Bush.
 
My contacts within the U.S. military say to expect a "ramp up" in the number and intensity of search and destroy missions executed by Ad Hoc U.S./Pakistani strike teams within the next week or two along the Afghanistan/Pakistan border.

Possibility 1: Osama is captured or killed a few months before election. That may or may not help Bush. (Remember, when Daddy-Bush brought up Desert Storm successes, the US public said "What War?")

Possibility 2: Bush is so sure that he will be relected that they are saving swooping in on Osama until a few months after the election.

Possibility 3: Bush is so worried enough that he will lose the election that Osama is already dead and buried, that way he will remain a constant threat hanging over the US.

Possibility 4: The US just can't find Osama and he's still a threat.

Possibility 5: Osama was killed during one of the American bombing runs, and is decomposing in the bottom of some bomb crater, only its impossible to find and identify him. (Really, has there been any credible evidence that he's still alive? The last video that was released showed him out for a stroll, but he didn't actually speak on the tape to show that it was current.)

Whoa there!!

I really, really hope that either you and/or your "contact within the US military", are full of sh!t and/or making this up, because if not, then haven't you just leaked some very sensitive info on a public internet forum?

I mean, if it's true, might not whoever is hiding on the Afghanistan/Pakistan border take this as a warning to flee?

Possibility 7: Osama's kidneys are failing and he needs a transplant. An underground movement has been started to save soda pop tops to pay for the operation.

Think about this:

Bin Laden is not likely to get an unpredjudiced jury anywhere in the world , and whatever the outcome, someone is going to blow up a bus of children over it.

Our current government has demonstrated a preference for a Machiavellian approach on issues related to terrorism. An ideal solution is for OBL to be encased in concrete and quietly dropped in the Indian ocean.

And this may have already happened.
