I've been using Free CD to mp3 program with excellent results. It's absolutely free and easy to use.Windows Media Player has this feature so I ripped it.....but it only ripped it to the media library, ie the files are nowhere to be seen.I want these as .MP3 files on my PC. Help appreciated.
Setting options for ripping CDs
You can set the following options by using the Rip Music tab:
Change the storage location for CD tracks.
Specify whether tracks are ripped to your computer in Windows Media Audio or MP3 format.
Protect ripped tracks from illegal distribution, copying, and sharing.
Specify the sound quality of music copied in the Windows Media Audio format.
To access the Rip Music tab
On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Rip Music tab.
That only applies to WMA Pro, though. At 128kbps a LAME-encoded MP3 file generally sounds better than a standard WMA file.Well, WMA offers better quality in less space than MP3, so I wouldnt call it 'crappy.' MP3 is of course 'the' standard, for whatever thats worth.
Windows Media allows ripping to a crappy .wma format, however it can easily rip to MP3 if you don't want that. If you hate Windows use CDex or other CD extraction software.![]()
