I meant to comment on this the other day, but blew it. My condolences certainly go out to his family and friends.
We're losing the people that went to the moon. I know there were thousands involved, but taking the 24 men who left earth orbit as a measure there are only 14 left. And they range in age from 81 to 89. As much as I hate to say it, another 5 years will probably see most or all of them gone.
And since it's been 45 years since the last moon mission, I think pretty much everyone involved must be 70 at the very least. In a sense, all those thousands of people were my heroes growing up, and a big part of why I got into a technical field. I hate to think of them all being gone in the next twenty years (assuming I last that long myself).
