Have any of you heard of this young lady or have an opinion on her situation? She's become quite the cause celebre on Christian media outlets like talk radio, The 700 Club and Fox News.
The deluded girl just traded one brand of nonsense for another and lost her family in the process.Have any of you heard of this young lady or have an opinion on her situation? She's become quite the cause celebre on Christian media outlets like talk radio, The 700 Club and Fox News.
According to a muslim friend of mine from Cincinnati the answer is no.Does it strike anyone else as odd that these folk did not at least let the authorities know the lassie was there and ok?
Oh, and "The documents describe the Noor Center as "one of the primary sources of Islamic extremism in central Ohio."
Is it a big frog in a raindrop or is there a lot of muslim "extremism" in Ohio?
Not just odd - I believe the fundies who "rescued" her are technically guilty of kidnapping. If they believed she was in mortal danger, what was the problem with taking her to social services or a womens' shelter?Does it strike anyone else as odd that these folk did not at least let the authorities know the lassie was there and ok?
If all that Rifqa's new friends wanted for her was to be safe from her parents until she was legally adult, they could have hidden her easily; with the kind of networks the churches have in the US, a person could stay underground for years. The girl is seventeen. I don't know why they don't emancipate her and let her choose where she wants to live and what God she wants to believe in. If she doesn't want her parents to know where she is, then that will be her choice and her choice alone.
Does it strike anyone else as odd that these folk did not at least let the authorities know the lassie was there and ok?
