Will it ever be back? They said they were shutting it down to start a new one, and the new one would be up "later this month", but that was February or March. And the last thing I saw about it was a note from RD on the old forum site (which is still visible but not taking new posts) about hate-mail he'd apparently started getting over the planned changes to the forum. Given the lack of a new forum after such a long time, it's possible to think take that note as a sign that he eventually got so annoyed with the behavior of members of the old forum that he changed his mind about even having one at all. But I don't seen any announcement to that effect on his website, either. (And a search for the word "forum" only brings up parts of the old one, nothing explaining why the new one isn't there yet or whether it will be or when it will be.)

Have any of you picked up news about it that I haven't seen?
 
So they didn't officially say that they weren't going to get the new forum started after all... they just haven't. That's odd.

I'll go register at the "refuge"...
 
There is a fairly active Facebook group...

The original Dawkins forum was pretty loose; an "anything goes" situation. It got a little out of hand...
The refuge forum is OK; not up to the general quality of the Randi forum, but not bad.
 
It's not really a big loss, considering that the V.I.P. for whom the forum was named never actually participated in any of the discussions.

Come to think of it, in that sense it was not unlike a certain other forum that I frequent.

Are there any other skeptic forums up to the general quality of this one?

I realize that the comments above are in part humorous. In seriousness I have to concede that in topics dealing with science and biology, the Dawkins forum had a level perhaps higher than ours.

But in over-all skepticism, we had them beat. :cool::)

An amendment....After cruising and posting on the Facebook forum...I find it's mostly dominated by woo believers and Christian apologists. Although the forum is referenced off Dawkins' site, it apparently has little or nothing to do with the organization, and if there's a moderator I can't see any evidence....
