Ok, so we now have a GREAT example of Conservative and GOPer hypocricy when it comes to the Constitution.

Conservatives and GOPers, who usually claim to LOVE the Constitution, Freedom, and the Bill of Rights to death, are now mostly the ones demanding that Mosque/Muslim community center NOT be built near GZ.

They believe that freedom of religion should be suspended in this case, because it effects Muslims.

This is a huge attack upon freedom and the Constitution.

Do we have any other examples of such Conservative/GOPer hypocricy regarding the Bill of Rights?

..this is not a debate about the mosque issue, btw.

-ah yes, there is the abortion issue. The rights of women is superceded by the rights of 2 day old fetuses. that's another.

-and drugs. GOPers/Conservatives abandon their libertarianism when it comes to drugs.

anything else?

Plenty of Republicans spoke in favour of the Texas Sodomy Law when the Supreme Court struck it down. I don't think the constitution says "Equal Protection of The Laws....unless you're gay, then you can go to hell".

Politicians are hypocrites?!

STOP THE PRESSES!!!!

Next thing you'll be telling me liberals/Dems pretend the 2nd Amendment doesn't exist or mean what it says...

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

So, how does the existence of completely UNregulated gun ownership fit the definition of the necessity of a "Well regulated Militia"?

point is, the Liberal stand on the 2nd Amendment has remained consistent.

Most liberals see it as referring to an armed militia, not an armed public.

though, most liberals accept the right of folks to own long guns, at home, for hunting and home protection purposes.

...any other examples of Liberals/Dems being hypocritical Wildcat?

You mean like the fraudulent “assault weapon” category, used to ban certain long guns because they look scary?

Freedom of speech is another that comes immediately to mind. Liberals have long styled themselves as champions of free speech. Which side is it that has come up with the concept of “hate speech”, and routinely uses it to try to censor the expression of opinions that they don't like?

hate speech is criminalized in the USA?

since when.

the liberal ACLU are the one always defending KKK and Neo-Nazi's right to march and spew their crap.

I was just thinking to myself that there weren't enough threads about the Mosque at GZ and was hoping somebody would do something about that. Thanks Thunder

what....5 GZ threads too much for ya?

:)

honestly, GOPers and Conservatives, most of them at least, are fare-weather Libertarians.

when it comes to guns, God (Christian one), and gold, they LOVE the Constitution.

but when it comes to abortion, non-Christian houses of worship, drugs, they are total HYPOCRITES.

As opposed to republicans who think the whole part in it about well regulated militia doesn't exist or mean anything.

On her television show, April 19, 1999, O'Donnell had this to say about gun owners:

"I don't care if you want to hunt. I don't care if you think it's your right. I say, 'Sorry.' It is 1999. We have had enough as a nation. You are not allowed to own a gun, and if you do own a gun I think you should go to prison."

Several months later, her bodyguard applied for a concealed gun permit from the Greenwich (Connecticut) Police Department. Hypocrisy much?

I assume you are referring to Rosie O'Donnell. Are you using this as an example of "liberals" views or just Rosie O'Donnell's?

Feh, in about as much hypocrisy as Ron Paul complaining against earmarks while he ensures his district gets above average federal funds through his own earmarks. You can dislike the system while still making the most of said system. Her saying guns shouldn't be legal doesn't make them so.

O'Donnell's statement was made after the Columbine school shooting. It was an obvious over-reaction to that event, and I don't think it's very relevant to a discussion about gun laws.
