I've been involved in a Facebook atheist group for a couple of years. It's got a large (14,000+) membership but only a few of that number are active...
At any rate, it's an active group with a decent number of good discussions.
Of course, as with any such, there are the usual number of trolls, evangelists, and lunatics....

This morning, went to check on an ongoing discussion and found the group gone. Really gone... No trace.
I contacted a few members and they were clueless as well.
Checked a couple of other active atheist-oriented groups and found that evidently some other group has been "reporting" and flagging various atheist groups until the auto-kick software goes into motion and the group is suspended.
That's the theory anyway; it's unlikely that any Facebook administrators are actually reading through all these discussions to see if there's any violations.
In this particular group, activity has been rather dull over the last few weeks; not even any good evangelists spamming the site...
Hopefully, this will all get straightened out but it's quite annoying.

Do you have any proof of this so-called Facebook Atheist Group's existence...or am I to just believe??

Try reddit.com/r/atheism and reddit.com/r/skeptic. Could help fill the void.

Can you contact a group admin? I think that they probably would have been informed of the reasons for why the group was suspended.

In any case, it's not good. :(

The group administrators are trying to get hold of the Facebook admins to straighten this out, as of this morning it's still down.
There are rather a lot of atheist-oriented "groups" on Facebook, most rather small. I only started posting on this one because of the large membership.....
