Regulating the Biggest Chill

One could argue that cryonics operations defraud people by definition. After all, nobody has ever reanimated a human body that was frozen in liquid nitrogen. Having attended an Alcor conference, and met many people who plan to use Alcor's services, it is clear to me that they have been thinking about whether or not the cryonics option is worth it for a long time. The conference I attended went deeply into the gory details about how bodies are cryonically preserved. In a sense, cryonicists are engaging in a kind of 21st century Pascal's Wager.

So how about it? :D

Well, nobody has shown that heaven exist either but we don't go around regulating churches do we. Same difference as far as I'm concerned. Actually I consider cryonics the better gamble, as someone's signature heres states (paraphrased) "Holy men once said they could make the mountain come to them and we didn't believe them. Scientists say they can move mountains and we don't doubt them".

But gamble it is. These guys aren't making any promises they can't keep (unlike the churches). They say maybe it'll work, maybe it won't. But you're dead already before you go in so what do you have to lose.
