Regan, Bush, and stem cell research.

- This morning, while browsing the political cartoons (http://www.politicalcartoons.com), I noticed more than a few cartoons featuring Reagan pointing towards a wall Bush had built around stem cell research, and saying "Mister Bush, tear down this wall" and so on. And apparently, there are more than a few Republicans who feel the same way. I'm a little shocked, but it's a pleasant feeling.

- My question for everyone is this. Suppose for a moment that these two men were in reversed positions: Bush has suffered from Alzheimer's and died, and Reagan was a younger man in power right now.

- Do you think Reagan would pursue stem cell research, and/or lift the ban? Why or why not?

- I'm not suggesting that there shouldn't be research, I'm only suggesting that from what I know about Reagan, he would probably be less impressed than Bush is by any argument made in this vein. Thoughts?

No, like someone wrote earlier, Reagan is a right-wing sock-puppet (not unlike the current president).

It's always amazing (well, not always, kinda mudane really), when people change their views and beliefs when personally affected/confronted with the cause. If your daughter was raped (maybe brutally), and she became pregnant from that rape, would you allow an abortion though you're morally against abortions? What is your stance on gay marriages if your son/daughter announces they wish to same-sex marry?

Stem cell research could result in some very dramatic cures. It could also flop big time, but at least we tried.
