All this stuff about swift boats and National Guard service is a smokescreen for the real issue.

In the end, it's the Packers' score -- more than the Packers vote -- that could determine Kerry's fate. In the past 18 presidential elections, if the Redskins lost or tied the last game before the election, the party in the White House lost, too. The Redskins' opponent Oct. 31: the Packers, but not at Lambert, er, Lambeau Field.

Go Redskins!!!

I wonder if the Democrats are working to get third <strike>party</strike> string Packer quarterbacks disqualified to play in the game.

It would be more poetic and ironic if it was the New England Patriots against the Redskins.

What my wife knows about football would fit into a thimble and still leave room for what she knows about baseball. But I guarantee you there will be no bigger cheesehead than she on October 31.

And the embarrassing part is, she was born, grew up, and went to college, in Texas.

Fortunately, the 'Skins have Joe Gibbs back as head coach, which you find out is the most important event in the history of civilization if you spend five minutes in this town. Too bad for Kerry; if Spurrier were still coaching the 'Skins, Kerry would win 40+ states even after getting caught bound and naked in bed with Michael Jackson riding on his back and a coke spoon up his nose.
