Recent near-miss asteroid to soon return?

An asteroid just missed us recently. It came within about 55,000 miles of earth. This is an astronomical drop in the bucket. A comrad I know also heard the story. He said what's REALLY scary is that he heard it's supposed to return in about 6 years.

It seems like 'the stars are lining up' for some prophetic doomsday. First we have the mideast crisis, that happens to not only involve the very country were Biblical life began...but it involves Israel, whose battle of Armeggedon is the focal point. Then we have predictions from Nostradamus...from the Bible itself...and the Mayan calender quits in 2012. We have tv evangelists who claim the end of the world could occur between 2006 and 2012. (Like Jack van Impe)

Anyone else know something about this asteroid? Then again...if you don't, you could always make comments about my second paragraph.:D

Umm, not to my knowledge it doesn't. It too rolls over to the next cycle, just as the Gregorian calendar did at the turn of the Millennium.

For example, on Thursday, December 20, 2012, the Mayan Long Count is 12.19.19.17.19.

On December 21, it rolls over to 13.0.0.0.0. Coincidentally, the winter solstice occurs at 11:11 UT on that date. The New Age Community's going to love that one. :)

And on December 22, 2012, the Mayan calendar continues with the date 13.0.0.0.1.

13.0.0.0.1.

These look a tiny little bit like IP addresses. Did the ancient Mayans have access to Internet like technology rescued from Atlantis ? Wooooooooooooooo!!!!!

Small asteroid, little danger

\

Also had middle eastern crises
- Throughout the crusades c12-c14
- Throughout the Ottoman Empire
- During the First World War
- 1948
- 1967
- 1973
- 1979
- 1980s
- 1991

If your primary indicator for doomsday is middle east chaos then I think you'll be V busy

Which particular bits from Nostradamus please ?

Nostradamus does not predict. THe only way accurate "predictions" have produced is for people apply his vaguely worded text to events after the fact

Mayan calendar is addressed in xouper's earlier post

Weren't televangelists predicting the end of the world for 2000 ?
A variety of failed end of world predictions are contained in this link:

This year's predictions
http://www.religioustolerance.org/end_wrl15.htm
And ones for the future
http://www.religioustolerance.org/end_wrl1.htm

Of course they only have to be right once !

I had a similar thought, but I didn't post it because xouper has no sense of humor. :D

Not from Atlantis. From the Pleiades.

These look a tiny little bit like IP addresses.
And for exactly the same reason, representing non-decimal base numbers in decimal. Review - the Maya used base 20, and IP addresses are base 256.

I had a similar thought, but I didn't post it because xouper has no sense of humor.
I'm on prescription meds specifically to keep my sense of humor in remission. Is it working?

I particularly liked this one:

2003: Sree Vishiva Karma Veera Narayana Murthy, an avatar of Krishna will arrive to establish a 108 year reign of dharma (righteousness). This will be preceded by four years of: a rain of blood in towns and villages, circulation of poor quality coins, the appearance of male goats and oxen with mammary glands that can be milked, and the appearance of many incurable diseases.

(Emphasis mine)

Well, if the rains of blood, incurable diseases and hermaphrodite goats aren't enough to convince you, having change rejected by vending machines for four years ought to make you a believer.:D
