Reagan coin?

Come on! It's not enough that he lives on in their wet dreams? They have to go naming airports after him, and now want to deface our coinage too? Dollars to donuts a drug-addled Rush Limbaugh will call for Reagan to replace George Washington on the $1 bill.

I vote that President Reagan gets a comemerative 9c piece (or "nime" if you prefer)

This will commemorate:

- The three branches of government raised to the power of terms served
- The holy trinity at the heart of the USA
- The victory over the evil empire in 1989
- the fact that for may years he was one sandwich short of a picnic

I think Teddy Roosevelt deserves to be on currency before Reagan. But I suppose anyone is better than FDR.

Why is Hamilton on the 10 and Jefferson on the 2? IMO it should be the other way around.

Personally I think Clinton was a better prez.

If Reagan is so great then Cali can put him on their quarter. They shoudl wait till hes dead. What if he does soemthingto disgrace himself! Its not too late for Reagan killing spree!!!!

(How did Jackson get on the $20???)

Iduno, those gold dollar coins kinda tanked bigtime with the Indian chick on them.

How about they redo the dollar coin with several US presidents on them. Sorta like the 50 states quarters but with the president rotating and but not the eagle side.

Rotate Reagan, Nixon, FDR, JFK (yes i know he was on silver dollars), and maybe Polk as joke.

To repeat an argument Brown made once, this represents a lack of confidence in Reagan supporters. They want to ram this through now, rather than trust that history will remember him kindly.

thought the dollars were

- Morgan
- Peace
- Eisenhower
- Susan B Anthony
- The new one

You need to have a standard on the obverse but you can play around as much as you like with the reverse (otherwise us poor foreigners will get confused)

Homer Simpson had a good idea. He claimed to have a $10,000 bill and when asked what president was on it he said "All of them. Theyre having a party. Jimmy Carter is passed out on the couch."

Doesnt the money really insult the non-money presidents. Soory Taft, you sucked. No $2 bill for you!

Does the congressional medal of honor insult the non-congressional medal of honor soldiers?

Hamilton founded the Treasury Dept. If anyone deserves to be on the currency, then it's him. As a matter of fact, he should be on all the bills -- lying dead on the ground, with a ball in Aaron Burr's dueling pistol in his chest. :)

I don’t think he should be taken off, but should instead be in a less prominent role. Jefferson on the 2 is somewhat of an insult. And what about Madison? Can't they made a 75$ bill to put him on? He deserves the recognition.

This political idol worship/grand standing should stop. I suggest replacing ALL human heads with some of natures wonders. Half Dome, Old Faithful, Grand Canyon etc.

I say let's take a lesson from North Korea...all of our money should only have Ronald Reagan's picture on it....that will make clear that it is morning in America in perpetuity.....all of our stamps should have Ronald Reagan on them as well...and, just to make sure the lesson is driven home, post offices, customs areas at airports, embassys, etc. should only display Ronal Reagan's picture rather than that of the sitting president. Also, just for good measure, California should be re-named Reaganvania and Sacromento Ronville. They could call San Fransisco "Nancy" 'cause it is (sorry for the homophobic, un PC humor there). :p

Anyone who suggests that Reagan somehow deserves to supplant FDR on the dime is living in a fantasy land. This whole dispute smacks of pettiness.

You forgot to employ your sense of humor, G. Lighten up.

I agree with ap/Brown; it shows a lack of confidence in Reagan's supporters. But then, wasn't there a semi-serious proposal to put Reagan's face on Mt. Rushmore while he was still in office?

Yes, there was. Whether the proposal was semi-serious or not, the response was dead serious: there is no more room on Mount Rushmore for any more portraits.
