Remember Ronald Reagan's supposed gay-bashing as portrayed in the CBS movie? The "live in sin, die in sin" line that even Chris Matthews mocked and said Hollywood was lying? Well, look at this real quote from Ronald Reagan:

www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4381612/

"Log Cabin was founded in 1978 as part of the effort to defeat California’s Proposition 6, a measure that sought to dismiss teachers who “advocated” homosexuality in or out of schools. At the time, Log Cabin enlisted none other than Ronald Reagan in their successful campaign. In a statement denouncing the measure, Reagan wrote, “Homosexuality is not a contagious disease like the measles.”

The Reagan bashing is a real low blow, considering his current state, he's simply a candle in the wind, unable to defend himself.

So I guess Hitler bashing is out, then.

With the amount of blood on his hands? Cry me a river.

You're missing the sly referrence to American's ill-considered "candle" thread. :p

Whatever helps you feel better about yourself.

Ever hear any descriptions of what Reagan's "freedom fighters" in Latin America were doing?

The only creative fiction is all the lies that we heard from his administration.

Reagan's dirty little wars, his almost single-handed creation of an entire new strata of poor people in his own country, and his outdated views on almost every issue earn him my vote as worst President in my lifetime.

When I start getting hung up on yet another horrible thing that Bush has done, I compare him to Uncle Ronny and end up feeling pretty good about things right now

He was the first well-known Republican sock-puppet president. His real decline started when the chimp died.

Reagan was a God send!!I remember the early 80's we all thought that none of us would see the year 2000 because we'd be killed in a nuclear war first! The Russians were supposed to be ahead of us & we had no chance...But Reagan had Balls (Unlike Carter) & he knew America had what it takes! He put the Persing in Europe (over appeasement/ Europeans protetests) & the Soviet Union fell!!!God bless Reagan.Ignore Europe & listen to you testicles & you'll be right..that's the God Blessed lesson of Reagan....God bless bless!!& may he sleep well tonight!

LMAO. I know this can't be serious.

Not as incorrect as you might think. Until Reagan took the reins, the U.S. was lagging behind the Soviet Union pretty badly (due to some fairly inept leadership up to that point).

The fact was, Soviet Communism was evil. Flat out evil. How many lives lost in 'purges', how many lives broken? Not to denigrate the Jews, but Stalin made Hitler look like a shop clerk in the mass murder department.

Reagan was probably a lot sharper than people realize. He knew how much stress the U.S. economy could take, and figured it was worth it if he could break the Soviet Union. To be honest, I agree with the assertion; we might spend years rebuilding our economy, but at least we'd still BE here and not be a satellite of the U.S.S.R.

Did I agree with everything Reagan did? No. The Iran-Contra affair irked the hell out of me (although considering Reagan's no-negotiations-with-terrorists attitude, he might've been telling the truth about not knowing about the deals. Or that might've been early Alzheimer's setting in. Who knows?).

But it was nice to see a President who really believed we have a great country, and was willing to take on a monster.
