Rapture Ready cutters.........

In a short two page thread on the Rapture Ready message board there are EIGHT (yes thats right 8! ) posters who readily admit to self mutilation or "cutting".

Also notice that the original poster has absolutely NO idea what he is talking about and is somehow convinced that these people are doing it for pleasure, at the devils will of course.

Just seems disturbing to me that out of such a small sample of online christians, in a small space of time, eight have responded to the thread and admitted self-mutilation.......

I don't know, you have to recognize that it is a pretty big pool to chose from, and you are pretty much seeing only the positive results. If everyone checked in, you find it to be a pretty small fraction of all involved.

Basically, I consider it to be a corrollary of my First Law of Discussion Groups: Regardless the topic, there is always someone who knows more about it than you do.

In this case, it is more like, "Regardless of the topic, there are people who have experience with it."

When I first saw this thread, I thought it was going to be about cookie cutters for sale there. Maybe cutters in the shape of a pile of left-behind clothes?

Seriously, there is often a streak of self-flagellation in those of religious minds. It's not enough that one suffers from whatever is around you, but some feel they should inflict suffering upon themselves. Don't ask me what it all means.

People would have never even thought of doing this back twenty years ago.

Because goodness knows that 1984 was the pinnacle of morality and goodness in the world and nobody engaged in addictive or unsafe behaviors in the 80's.

It's hard to comprehend sometimes, but the "good old days" of the 50s were 50 years ago.

It really hit me when I realized in 2000 that 1960 was 40 years ago.

Heck, It stunned me when I wrote that and realized that the 80's were 20 years ago.

I feel so old. I am going to take my walker and my Geritol and go put on a fresh pair of Depends, now.

I really think they could raise money with the idea of Rapture Ready cookie cutters. This way, the pretribbers could make special cookies for the Left-Behind packages for unsaved friends and family members. One cookie cutter could show a believer ascending gracefully towards heaven, and tasty, then you could have a burnt cookie of an unbeliever showing the eternal tormenting flames of hell should one accept the mark of the beast.
