I rather imagine this conversation happening between Sylvia Browne and her son. I gather she is training him to "take over" after she passes on. Since she knows she is a fake (this is my opinion only, so don't sue me) she knows she won't be able to help him out with advice after she is dead.

"Son, you are going to have it so much easier than I did. You are lucky I laid all the ground work for this 'religion' I have invented! I had to do all the hard work, the start up, the writing the books (with help), going on Larry King and Montel and trying not to laugh or giggle as I made stuff up. I am leaving you this empire I have created. You will carry on after I am gone! And best of all, you won't have that AMAZING RANDI around to annoy you! That's right, no clock countdown, no Randi for the straight media to check in with, nobody to say that making money off grief is a morally bad thing. He doesn't have a son to carry on like I do. So you are going to have clear sailing. I'm sure you will be able to soon go on shows other than Larry King and Montel. Yeah, with no AMAZING RANDI around, the sky is the limit!"

Well, Sylvia, I hate to break it to you. But Randi does have children. Lots and lots of children. Many of them are younger than your son. You have your followers, that may or may not follow your son in your self professed "religion". But, as long as Rebecca, the Kittens, Luciana, and so many others I can't even begin to list them, are alive - well there WILL always be the AMAZING RANDI after both you and your son.

And I wonder how Sylvia and her heir and son feel about THIS site!

Interestingly enough, I was once accused of being Randi's son! (I think it's the beard...)

But yes, everyone who tries in some way to debunk a fraud is carrying forward Randi's work, and is in some sense, one of his children.

He's a prolific guy! :)

I think you'd want to rephrase this, so you actually look like a skeptic, to say that you'll be after their claims, not after them.
 
well, I have to honestly say that what they are doing with parents that have lost young children is criminal. As in they could be sued if they ever admitted they were wrong. Because they take a LOT of money from people, and if I thought they had any shred of belief that what THEY personally do is real and not faked, I would have some sympathy.

I know some psychics that seem to really believe they have some ability and honestly are sure they are doing a kindness with their readings. Also, there are a few that will not do readings of young children. You will note that those that do young child readings without fail say, "oh I see a small toy or stuffed animal in the coffin...." They ALWAYS say that. And any funeral director will tell you 100% of the time that is true.

Plus, she said on national tv, and wrote it in a book with her son, that SKUNKS DON'T GO TO HEAVEN!

Now, as a Xian I happen to like skunks. Do they kill their enemies? Nope. They have evolved into an animal that has developed a wonderful way of defense that doesn't kill their enemy. More humans should be like skunks. I'd like to mail Sylvia a skunk.

It's a little personal as I know a psychic that caused a death. It wasn't Sylvia, but someone almost as well known. What she is doing is very dangerous, but she can never, ever hint that it is in any way faked - in other words she can never "turn over a new leaf" or even expose other psychics - because she would be sued over and over again. I think that is rather sad. Personally, she can never attone in any way for all she has done, and I would find that so hard to live with. She must have to just justify her actions over and over again to herself. I feel sorry for her. But, what she does can be very dangerous, as well as cruel.

It's a good thing, too. I'd much rather be in heaven in constant fear of having my immortal soul eaten by a tiger, shark, grizzly, or anaconda than be worried I might be inconvenienced by the spray of a skunk.
 
ohhhh, sorry I said LOATHED.

Poor Sylvia. But perhaps you should send her one of those other animals she claims ARE getting into heaven. Like a black widow spider. Or a black mamba snake.
 
How can anyone who claims to have not only knowledge of a heaven but specific knowledge of what animals get into it be taken seriously? :rolleyes:


Skunks are cute :D

Not to mention someone was talking about how they don't kill their enemies. They even give two (or was it three?) warning signs before they spray. Plenty of warning.
