Well, as you know I work with Randi. I am quite sure she has some reason she believes this.

So, let me ask you; Why do you not think it is the truth? You know the interviews he did are a matter of record and he has admitted to them, correct? So the only two controversies here are his treatment and the nickname they had for him. What actual evidence corroborates McCain's version of events vs any others?
 
I can provide you with transcripts of those interviews and a few press stills taken during them by the North Vietnamese if any of you disbelieve me, but Google will find them for you if you use McCain Propaganda Interviews as your search term.

He did substantially collaborate with the NVA. This in spite of orders to never collaborate and to give only name, rank, and serial number.

Now I did not dredge this up, you did. And I will back it up with documents if you really want to have that all aired one more dreary time.

True, but considering his shape when he got there there is reason to believe that it was done to get himself medical care.

Still he worst thing I saw was give fake names of his squadron. (Granted it seems that he's been confusing Green Bay with Pittsburg.)

Oh really? Who and how much do they dispute it? I do remember seeing a story that apparently one of his former captors is happy to see that he might be the president of the US, was fond of him and disputed that he ever beat him.
 
Well from everything I have seen there is no credible source disputing that he was in a North Vietnamese POW prison for 5 years, with the first few of those being in very rough conditions. I also think without providing a credible source to suggest that he's lying you risk come off as a vicious sad political hack, which is exactly how I heard Randi Rhodes.
 
What research have you or her done? I don't know whether John McCain's lying or not.. I know that it's conventional wisdom that he isn't, I know that Wikipedia makes no suggestion that he is and I know that google revealed nothing more than one of his captors who dispute that he was tortured (kinda like how here perhaps the guards in Guantanamo would dispute that anyone has been tortured) and one of the guys who shared his prison complaining that McCain claimed he was a turncoat but in fact corroborating the story that the prison was an incredibly rough place (if not McCain's exact version).

If you don't want to offer anything at all up then I don't see why you're supporting this statement other than your hatred of John McCain. Personally, I think Obama's got the smarter policies and seems the way to go but that doesn't mean we have to demonize his opponent.
 
I've done no research whatsoever. I am asking you to do it if you care about the issue. I really don't; His collaboration is documented, and that I have checked on. I am leaving you to go do the rest. Find me all stories by all persons incarcerated with him that have been published and summarize them here with citations. THEN you will have an actual basis for your opinion that he was mistreated and never bought favorable treatment with collaboration and that there is no person who would know who says otherwise. Right now you have only the statements of others who might or might not have done the research and who might or might not be telling the truth. Is that seriously good enough for you?

Again, I have no intention of resolving this question. I leave that to you if you think it important.
 
I no more care to research the accuracy of such claims than I want to research the accuracy of the claim that Obama is secretly a muslim. They both sound like blind hateful smears and I'll leave it up to the people making them to put together a credible case and present it to me.
 
Randi Rhodes is also a 9/11 truther, and therefore known to be fast and loose with facts.

I'm interested in this, too.

I'd think the Democrats would be hopping all over this, after the Swift Boat fiasco in 2004.
