I can't remember a time when Malcolm Fraser wasn't someone to look up to.

I will never forget 1975 either. At least he stood up for what he believed in, even when it wasn't popular with his own party. Too much focus groups these days, making all politicians slimy little populists.

Not only will I never forgive him for 1975, I will never forget his do-nothing prime ministership. He could easily have commenced the reform process so successfully implemented by Hawke and Keating. He lacked the guts and intellectual capacity to do so. No crocodile tears from me.

Bugger all. Next to nothing. He was PM for 8 bloody years. He did nothing on the economy. Nothing on Industrial Relations. No nation building projects.

Do you really think these "highlights" have great significance? Hosting a royal tour? Calling referenda? Enacting laws that were the work of others?

Holt and Gorton were worse PMs, but they had much shorter terms. Fraser was a most disappointing, do-nothing PM.
