Qaddafi new leader of African Union

We're going to need bigger ordnance if we're going to penetrate that thick helmet hair of his.

His anti-NWO so the CT nutters don"t care if he is an evil cruel dictator. By the way isn"t Gadaffi a marxist?

Qaddafi is scum, and I think its sad our African brothers are led by such a lunatic.

I was watching something on AE or History Channel today...mentioned something about Qaddafi trying to contract urban gangs in the U.S. like the Black Peace Stone Nation to carry out terrorist acts on U.S. soil, including possibly downing an airliner.

Things that make you go hmmmmmm....

Yeah, we don't feel so great about it. It speaks volumes when our "representatives" consider Qaddafi the best of the bunch .

He has great plans to unite all the African states. In theory an admirable idea, in practice, not so much.

Qaddafi hates Israel. So he is ok as far as CTists are concerned.
Do you have a source for that statement? His recent NYT opinion seems to contradict it.

Qaddafi is a cruel dictator, that much is true. But as far as cruel dictators go, I'm not sure he'll be a terrible AU leader. My impression is that he's genuinely interested in pursuing a reputation as a progressive leader, and that he's shown remarkable levels of pragmatism for a person in his position.

What is progressive about 'seven traditional kings of Africa' or, for that matter, stealing power in a coup?

Yeah, he's a nice little boy who took the right lessons from the case Saddam.

I think the penny dropped a bit before that. He is one of the few examples of a real radical mellowing with age and actually starting to do some good.

Yes he and Lybia have an awful long way to go, but at least they have started on the road. The people still lack a lot of freedom, but a fair bit of oil money is getting poured back into infra structure, which is begining to lift the standard of living some what.
