Putting Together My Own Challenge

I'm toying with this idea. I'd like to start my own challenge for my website MondoSkepto. Remie has done so well with psychics, I'll leave them alone. I'll focus on two of my pet peeves - ghost hunters and Bob Larson style evangelical exorcisms. I'll offer $100 to anyone who can produce a ghost or drive a demon out of my hellbound self.

Thoughts?
Controls?
'Pinions?

I think challenges are a great idea, but I’m wondering how you’re going to define what a “ghost” is, and what constitutes proof positive that one has been detected such that both you and the ghost hunter are in agreement.

My room mate had a challenge page up for about a year for mediums. All they had to do was tell her the nickname her father had for her. Of course, she didn't have a monetary reward but still there were zero takers. Not even a guess. She e-mailed so many psychics that we got a warning from our ISP. She still has the challenge but the page is gone. Very simple. Just the nickname. Towards the end she even promised that all wrong "hits" would be deleted and forgotten, as she thought mediums might think it was a trap of some sort.

Good luck, but even with a million dollars you probably wouldn't get any takers.

Challenges as a gimmick are over. Old, tired idea. By all means try, but you are much better off thinking of something original (I suggested to Remie that offering media coverage is more of a draw).

However, if you're very married to the idea of a money challenge, then set out clear objectives first. This includes:

What are you trying to achieve with the challenge?
How will you promote it?
Who are you targeting?
What are the benefits for the applicants?
What are the benefits for you?

etc.
