Pself-pstyled "psychic", Joe Power was heckled during a brief appearance at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Gala. He blames Derren Brown.

Now, I sympathise with any comic entertainer who fluffs before a Scottish crowd, but it's a hazard of the business. You're an entertainer, Joe, and a bad one.
It could have been worse, mate.
It might have been Glasgow. There's dying on stage ...and then there's dying , on stage.

Diddums. Perhaps he could try getting a real job instead.

Provides a bit of schadenfreude after seeing him on Derren Brown investigates just now on YouTube.

No real sympathy for Mr Power, firstly any stage performer should be able to deal with heckling (withing reason) and secondly he's a terrible fraud. I'd kind of assumed he was but yes on Derren Brown investigates you didn't need to watch the whole show, just the bit at the end when he gets asked if he believes that he is genuine. Joe is a terrible liar and you can see it straight away that he doesn't believe in it all, it's just easy money.
And I like the BBC headline for the story :-)

"My mistake was that I didn't have the lights on so I couldn't see the recipient in the audience. I need response and dialogue to keep the energy."

I'm getting the impression of a two word phrase, starting with a "c".

Is there anybody "old" who is from "Reading" in the audience?

I like the bit where he says " anything someone does should be respected." , well i guess we should take everyone of of jail then joe. I give respect to those that show that they deserve it, i whole heartedly agree with the actions of the heckler, and i hate hecklers. As a stage performer myself i have had to deal with my share.

These people should be laughed out of everywhere they are. I am sorry, but it is no more a profession than pickpocketing is, and it is no more acting/art than alex jones is. They are conmen and women billed as entertainers, nothing more.

He was so close to being honest, there.

Well; I am looking forward to my next episode of 'Righteous Indignation' now...

You'd think that, as a psychic, Power would have known that he would get that response.

When the poet John Cooper Clarke walked out onstage at The Glasgow Empire,he looked at the crowd for a while and said ""We'll call it a draw then'' and walked off.

Ok I watched the entire Darren Brown episodes on youtube. Nice show.

Just my opinion, but from a 'believer's perspective' Powers did well and the skeptics, as usual, were being unfair. That last one - even something as simple as the person using a fake name would be enough to invalidate the whole session, or throw sympathy to Power.

The last episode should have followed up with an interview with Power's sister rather than leaving it to we the viewers to connect the dots.

"So I was expecting the sceptics at the Assembly launch night but I didn't think it would be as bad as it was because anything people do should be respected."'

What kind of nonsense is that? I have to respect anything people do? No way. There is so much crap that doesn't fly and doesn't demand respect. Also, I'm told that I have to respect people's arbitrary ridiculous beliefs in this and that. Why the heck should I respect people who believe in nonsense?

There's probably little you could do to convince the true believers but I like the conservative 'It could be supernatural powers but it looks no different from cold reading' approach. In any case, Power's reported surprise at learning the subject lived next door to his sister came off very lame.

I would have also liked to have seen the actress respond to the claim that Power saw her in the mini. Wasn't it claimed that she waved to him from the car? (could be I am remembering this wrong).

It was cool how Brown asked to use Powers toilet when he visited him. It would have been interesting to a have seen footage from modestly placed cameras showing what he gets up to - I imagine him counting tooth brushes, opening medicine cabinets as well as having a sticky beak in the bedrooms en-route.

I started watching the Ghost hunter episode and agree that it looks a really good series.

I think in the UK you might be able to get it on C4's own site, but I'm not sure. That's where I originally saw it, but it might have expired.
